Rusty that turned out really nice, is there video so we can hear it? Great job!
Thanks. I was going to drain the fuel and put more Teflon on the brass 1/2 npt fitting to stop the leak I had but the bike sat all night and the most is just the brass nut getting a little wet. Never got wet on the top of the filter housing nor any fuel make it to the white shop rag I had under the filter housing.
So I will just wait till I burn the tank out of the bike then pull it off and add 3 more wraps of Teflon than I had to begin with (6 vs 3 wraps) then find a small brass crush washer at work hopefully its soft enough to crush and seal before the aluminum threads pull.
As far as the video goes hopefully this works this time. I had the video hidden till I had time to come up with tags and such for it.
Are you planning on keeping this or you planning on selling it..?
I'm going to keep it. I will later on build a second one I want to do a board track racer and I will use the frame from Sportsman Flyer its more expensive but its a very close reproduction of the proper drop loop frame for a Indian build from the Teens.
If people give me enough interest locally I might start building them to sale. I had one guy offer me $4500 not for this one but to build one for him.
Thanks. Cant wait to ride it. But got to get the clutch parts replaced and I am waiting on a Oz super magneto and a seal retainer coming in. I might drive it like it is with the exhaust but I really want to find a option to silence the exhaust some without making everything look tacky.
Is there no way of inserting a baffle in the exhaust..?
I don't know if there is without hurting the tune of this exhaust. Lots of people run a $9.99-$19.99 scooter muffler and use a piece of rubber hose and two clamps to connect.
but its 11" long and I really don't like the thought of using a hose and two clamps to make the connection. Plus the length of it requires a support bracket to be made.
I'm trying to find something short that can bolt onto my pipe. If I have to drill a hole for a set screw I would gladly do that. But my problem is the OD is 22mm on this which limits my options I have found so far.
Not sure. The way this pipe is designed the sound/exhaust pressure wave hits the cone on the expansion chamber area and it reflects back to push some fresh air/fuel that got pulled into the exhaust back into the intake. I am afraid anything I put in the expansion chamber might change this and hurt performance.
Well yesterday I got my oz Super magneto in and my seal retainer. Couldn't get the nut off last night of the magnet to install the seal retainer but I did install my Oz Super magneto which has considerably more probably close to double the windings of the stock magneto.
I did flatten one lock washer out just reassembling, and all three of the four phillips head screws with the proper phillips bit being used stripped out on me. Thankfully they have a flat head, but they are M4x25 so I ordered a set of 50 M4x25 socket cap head screws and a pack of 100 M4 lock washers. Hopefully the thread pitch is correct and it works. I don't know why they don't use the more positive socket cap screws they don't strip out as bad.
Seat post still haven't arrived I ordered one via amazon prime its supposed to ship out today and I should have it tomorrow. If I do then I will mark the one from ebay as not received and get my money back on it.
Well bike is basically finished. All that is left to do is just fabricate the front fender to fit, find a headlight, mount the tail light and find a chain guard for the pedal chain.
I rode the bike a bit up to 15 mph at 1/4 throttle but had to stop as I need to figure out how to properly adjust this carb as I think its too rich. I also haven't got my clutch stuff in yet and might not this week since its delayed in shipping by usps. My clutch stopped working on me so I didn't get to ride it a bit more.
I'm also seriously thinking about cutting off the black jackhammer grips and getting some brown rubber coke bottle grips to match the seat.
Wow, that's impressive, you've got skillz. I'd sell that one to that feller like you talked about, and the next one will go together smoother since you've got more experience.
I think your lawnmower blade is getting dull, and now is a good time to fertilize. 🐿

Already ran one tank through her about .5 gallons at around 40 miles. Played around with the jetting some to fix the wide open throttle stumble but hasn't made much difference I got it some what better. Hope leaning the oil mixture out one level on my measure might enrich the fuel enough to take the stumble out.
