^^^^ No, the PCM will run without the WTS or CE lights. This exercise is just to determine whether the WTS light is a valid indicator of a PCM/power issue.
ok
i replaced the PCM with one of my other working trucks and still nothing.
just so i can clear my mind of this. is it still possible that the CPS is not rite?
when i broke down i threw in a used one only because i was on the side of the road?
i need some real help. any ideas?
ty
In post 21 you said you had problems before with the truck shutting off, did you do something to fix that or is this the same issue but just not starting back up this time?
when my truck use to cut out on the highway it would really never shut off.
just complete loss of power then it kick back in. this normally would happen if id hit a slight bump once a month at most.
but if i was driving at low speeds the truck would just shut off all together.
so all i did was unplug the fuel bowl heater wire. it may have happend again once or twice in a 6 month period.
trucks been running fine up until hitting that massive pot hole.
ill have to look at the chart again. I followed it to a dead end.
thanks guys. i really need this fixed. only because its my wifes truck!
i broke it!!
I would say there is a pretty good chance the chip was loose before so hitting bumps and stuff may have been part of your issues before. A loose chip will cause stalling or shutting off.
However, if you're still not getting power to fuse number 9 and 22, you need to diagnose that first. No matter what potential other issue there may be, it will not start without power to fuse 9 and 22.
I don't know the wiring off hand but you may want to check for chafed or broken wiring and make sure you are getting power to those fuses.
