ICP SENSOR WARNING for ALL 7.3

wanted to spread the word ICP Sensor is a factory ford or international part only. Sure some parts can be purchased from auto crap and not the dealer such as wiper fluid lol. Anyways the previous owner on my truck unfortunately didn't know how to use a torque wrench and used sub par parts all around. The truck has been good to me but it's a shame all the extra labor that must be done when others try to save a few bucks. He said these engines are great not too many problems and advance has all the parts.
We have very large AM radio antennas with FM radio and cell radio towers by a very large bridge 5-6miles long. Used by ALOT of cars. Imagine your on the first drive in this area in the truck getting close and boom. The truck is bucking like a real muscle car being floored than power cut off (cycling like this every few seconds) than sounding like a back fire while shooting white smoke slamming into gear out of gear maybe you make it maybe you don't without engine shut off. We didn't know the problem at the time but I did my bestbtonavoid the area despite it was not always possible. Next the truck is dead 4 lane highway no one is paying attention to the lifted crew cab white with hazzards on despite train horn sounding. One time the conditions blew the cam sensor resulting in a tow another one of the times while cranking and cranking and sounding the loud horn a camero missed up by a foot I saw with my own eyes in the mirror.
After speaking with plenty of mechanics and calling the owner asking if he had any issues no one knew.

A few few months later I Found the ICP may be to blame as the cheap ones use less copper/shielding (to save $ and not care about the truck owners) After removal it had no brand name. A friend sold me a new international ICP for 125. Soon after I took the drive across the bridge with a few friends convinced the truck was haunted.
results no problems and we all cheered. I wanted to share this because imagine your trying to "save" than encounter a radio tower in the middle of nowhere with a trailer....endless possibilities. (there were other towers in the area that would simply turn the engine off like the key was turned off)
Everybody please don't compromise on this part to keep your safety and money in your pocket at the end of the day.

Yeah... if you had posed the question "truck misbehaves on same road every day", we would have immediately asked if you had aftermarket sensors. That particular rodeo has a big crowd.

Haven't had to replace my ICP yet but should probably get it ready and in hand as I am over 314K on the clock. That is something I haven't heard about before.
Now I'm going to start looking around for antennas and high power transmitters if the truck ever hiccups.

Oh. that is a great find. Who would guess a EMI problem with a crank sensor!
You could hunt that problem for years and not find it!

I agree 100%. I was having running issues, and after throwing about 1k worth of parts at it, i found that the pass side UVCH was burnt. No big deal. Anyways, one of the things i replaced before discovering the valve cover gasket issue was the ICP (purchased from OREILEY'S). There was oil in the plug,so i replaced it, but even after replacing the sensor and plug it didn't seem to make a difference. I figured at least i had a oil-free plug and new sensor. Well. 300mi later (the same day i installed my TS6, to make it more of a hairy situation) the truck began bucking, snorting, spitting, and more or less was wanting to take off like a train. I got it slowed down and in park (barely). Without tools or wanting to experience the almost run-away situation again, i had it towed home. I unplugged the ICP in the garage the next day, hit the key, and it fired up perfect. Long story short, i learned TO NEVER get any sensors or any critical components at the parts stores. I replaced the ICP with one from the Ford dealer, and haven't looked back.

It can't hurt for the reminder, but FTE has been been warning people for over 3 years now...
