Ok, lets try to put this to rest. All this guy wanted is to cause a big stir. So far it is working quite well. First of all I would like to say that there are many responsible teenagers who do not act this way. This post was obviously posted by an inmature individual. I can guarantee that Fatforty did not mean harm by the stereotype. We all know that there many highly responsible teenagers. So rather than calling this guy young we should call him immature (a 50 year old with the mentality of a moron!)
We all know that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a 3/4 ton truck (whats up with the 1/2 tone body, like that matters!) to do 140MPH on less than 300 hp (heck the 1988 mustang HO with 285hp only topped out at 127). It is also impossible and idiotic for a cop to site a person for speeding at 140mph. There is a different statute for that and it is called reckless driving or negligent driving (the name differs from state to state but the statute is normally the same). That statute is criminal and you would go directly to jail for anything excessivly over the speed limit (ie more that double in most cases, It usually regards to someone endangering the public by driving like a moron). Now if a cop had a choice to give a highly immature individual a ticket or take him to jail which would he choose! Ohh yeah I forgot to mention, This guy stated that he runs from the cops regularly. Why didn't he run that time! Do you know how long it would take a cop to turn around and catch up with a guy who is doing 140? I'm sure he would never catch him if he tried to run!
On Behalf of fatforty and others I would like to apologize to our teenage members for the sterotype and Lets end this idiotic post.!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Dec-01 AT 01:12 AM (EST)]Well said brett_d,
I agree there are plenty of responsible teenagers out there, and as to the speeding this kid must not have experienced tire seperation yet. because if he knew anything most tires are not rated or built to stay together under the heat produced at those speeds. That yute... youth wount be around long i just hope he doesnt loose it and take anybody else with him. Nobody is invincible we all have learned it at one point in our lives his leason might be more painful. Shoot mine was 85 mph with a trailer out on the flats of eastern Montana, when it was legal, not smart though.

Just wanted to support you in clarifying that there are plenty of teenagers in the FTE site and they are all a heck of a lot smarter than this duff.

First let met say that I am 18 soon to be 19, and did not take offence to anything said here.
Some people mature faster than others, and sometimes it takes a wakeup call to do that.
When I was 16 I got a speeding ticket for going 55 in a 45, not watching my speed, and for me that was like a wakeup call in some way. I have not been in trouble with the cops since.
I have not craved speed, nor do I think I ever will, but if I do, I’ll go over to Road America (which is a road track nearby) and have fun in a controlled manner.
I know I’m only 18, but I have been wrenching on cars ever since I can remember, my brother has taught me every thing I know about cars, and I am furthering my knowledge by taking an automotive technician course, and I plan to be a mechanic.
I may not be as good of a driver as some of you older folks, but I know how to NOT put my life, and others in danger.
I have seen plenty of immature driving, and wish I could have a talking to those people, but hopefully they will wise up and join the mature crowd.
I just wanted to get this off my shoulders. I wanted to post a message like this earlier but didn’t want to, but I think it has to be said.
Sorry brett_D for posting another massage, but I feel had to Sir.
Oh, and apology accepted.

Wow! I haven't seen this post in almost a year. Can't believe that it actually got dug out and fired' back up. Guy's, you just gotta watch out a little when it comes to post's like this. As probably mentioned in some of the above postings, a thread like this is nothing but a troll for controversy. This sucker seemed to get many people ruffled. Everyone from those who know the actual facts of what the truck can do, those who are younger, responsible drivers, and even those just in for a good "crossfire" conversation. It was threads along the line of this that got the "Ford vs. Competition" forum pulled from the FTE site. I agree that it can be fun when firing reply's back and forth, even when it gets heated, but sometimes it can get just plain ugly. Just my $2.00. (Inflation). Jake.
