450hp. Are you going to answer the question or not. What rpm were you turning when you were doing 140 or 145? Don't tell me you were going that fast without a tach.

Daywalker, don't make him blow it up before I get a chance to race him for his title!!! I would really like to have a truck that will do 145 and with that kind of horsepower I might pull the engine and put it in the 40 It'll probably do 195 in that because it is so light. John

I live in eastern PA and you would be hardpressed to find a road that you can do the speed limit on safley. If your not hitting potholes your hitting deer (live or dead). Not to mention your going up and down hills constantly, and forget about finding a straightaway long enough to get to that speed in a truck even with the "special motor". Just a note I have driven the Turnpike in the late hours and have seen cars with no lights on going down the road, rather they had a problem, were drunk or just stupid I don't know but you got to watch out. And also if you hurt someone in my family being stupid like you say on the road you better pray the law gets you before the rest of the family does.

I know this may sound stupid to the rest of you I just bought a F150 as my first car and my father always said that if your going to drive fast don't it may kill some one (even know he does). The guy writing this may be a little off his rocker or something. This also may be a way of getting attention. If we stopped talking to him maybe he will go away. I may sound like a quack but I study this stuff In school.

I have got a few things to add in here. The 2000 lightning has 360HP, and it is limited by aerodynamics to 140MPH. And from what I read, it takes a while to get there from 110MPH, which is cool, I can understand that.
450HP, I have the exact same truck, 95 SWB, 302 5 speed, with 3.55, and it is a 4x4. I was 20 at the time that I hit 110MPH going downhill with it, and it would not move above that. I would never do it again, it is too dangerous in a full sized truck, let alone a car (however, some cars are designed for speed, trucks are not, and I know about the lightning, but that is more of a stoplight, street machine, than top speed demon).
I am 22 now, and have since learned that speeding is not worth it. I can't afford another insurance hike, and I don't like putting other people's lives at risk.
And here is another thing. I don't care how much money you have, ford would not make such a special order truck for you. 275HP in a 95, with 5 speed? You would first have to add mass-air, then some heads, and maybe better cam. Also, computer would need to be tuned for optimum performance.
So lets say, 3-4 grand in labor and parts, being overly generous.
Can you see ford pulling techs of the assembly line, to make this truck? It would slow production of their regualar line, and thus limit profit. So, for a few grand profit, SVT and Fordracing wouldn't touch it either. If ford was modifying all their vehicles, why would we have such a great aftermarket out there?????
Ok, so the dealer changed it for you. Big deal, it wasn't special ordered.
This story is almost as good as the millionaire I heard about that ordered a new 98 F-150 4x4, with a 400HP 302. I didn't make that up, someone told me that and swears by it. I didn't say anything back to him, where would you start.....

Ah, it hit me. He was falling out of the same plane as Fordsajoke over in the Ford Vs compition board, with his 545SS!!!!!

Brad,
I've had this particular Fairlane for 3 years. It was a basket case with the cowl rotted out as well as the front floor pans. It was originally a 289/C4 car. The motor and tranny were not in the car when I got it. I had the car chemically stripped in a tank to clean everything up and to see what I had left as far as sheet metal. The exterior body is excellent with only a few rust pin holes in the right rear quarter panel. I'm still a way off on completion but the engine I'm building for it is a 428 CJ block, Lemans rods, Romac balancer, Ross forged pistons, Edelbrock aluminum FE heads, Blue Thunder 2-4v Medum Riser intake with 2 vintage Holley 4150's from a '63 galaxie 427. I've purchase the linkage, bellcrank and fuel log which are now being reproduced by the original make, Detroit steel Co., I have a Sig Erson roller rocker, shaft, end supports assembly, Crower sold lifter cam, Hooker Super Comps, etc..... It should be a strong runner. It'll be a street car with occasional drag strip runs when the Fairlane Club of America has their national meet. They usually have drag races the night before their show and I plan to run it at some FE Shootouts by FECA (FE Club of America). It is going to be Emberglow with a 427 style Crites hood. It should look basically stock with the exception of hood and wheels. Where are you located? I live in Denver, PA (Lancaster County - Amish Country). Have Fun with that Fairlane!

This guy has got to be joking! How old is he again, 15 or 16?! Even when I was that age I didn't dare go 10 miles over the speed limit. I to have an F150 with a heavily massage 6er and I have been able to get it to peg the speedometer (guessing top speed is 100mph) out on a paved road in the New Mexican desert. Out here there is no one to hurt except me and a few jack rabbits that run across the road and scare the living hell out of me when I am going this fast. This guy has got to be a genuine loser if he actually did this on the highway, which I truly doubt he did. That's what the local drag strip is for!!!! Also why would he want to run from the cops?!!! Is he some criminal that needs to be slapped in jail. Has this guy ever heard of the speed of light?! 186,000MPH, also called the RADIO, pal your not going to out run the cops let alone the twin turbo engine powered helicopter with its spot light and infra-red camera tracking your dumb butt no matter where you go!!!!!
If you did this out somewhere where you couldn't hurt someone, then kickass! Man you remind me of Gordon House the dumb drunk SOB who killed three girls and their mother and severally wounded their father on Christmas Eve a few years ago. Of course all he could do is whine about how people were out to get him because he has an indian heritage and we are all indian haters in New Mexico. Hell even I wanted to shoot him!!!!!
Did you actually think we would believe your LAMO story?! Man people like you send me thru the roof with your stupid antics like this!

Where do you come from, Jupiter ever stupider?!!!!

Just a thought about this guy and his top speed. Anyone heard of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series? Well those trucks run around 140mph and higher and they are 400-600 hp. Plus they are specially built frames and suspensions and still can be a handful to wheel around. This guy's imagination is unreal. Also, remember Geoffery Bodine's crash at daytona last year? At the speed he was running, say 170mph, look at what was left of his specially built truck. Think what a stock truck would look like at 100 mph?... Road pizza. So where does this guy get his 275 hp up to 140mph???? Just some food for thought. Steve

LAST EDITED ON 31-Jan-01 AT 07:13 PM (EST)[p]Yeah but those trucks are also carbed, and lighter than your average street F-150. Which is what makes them faster. Plus you also have to admit, this guy is probably not a race trained driver. He can't even get the consistencies in his story straight. What makes him think anyone will believe him, his story holds no water! All it is is HOT AIR!

He probably wouldn't know a Ford if it bit him. (excuse me, Shelby reference!) I just had to put that in there.

Ever read, I think it's Car and Driver or Road & Track, on their vehicle performance reports?

Can you say, "drag limited"?

Yeah, he has the HP to go that fast but not the aerodynamics.
