I have a 1995 Ford F150 With 3.55LS . A 302V8 with 5spd and 275hp special ordered. I wanted to see how fast the SOB would go so I went for it I got up to 100MPH and the damn thing shut off so I pulled the number 8 Fuse for the speedometer and I was hauling as$. I got the Truck up to a very high Speed of 140MPH I know this because I was pulled over and had to pay the biggest gosh darnn Fine I ever payed in my life. I wanted to know if 140MPH is the fastest this truck can go or is this the end at 140.???????

I have just one question for you. Why on earth would you want to test the top speed in a pickup? Unless you plan on drag racing it. I would have at least done that at a track somewhere, and not out on the open road. It would have at least saved you some $$$$$!

hotrod, some of us learn the hard way, me on the other hand believe them when they tell me that the mustang tops out at 125 (with a fuel shutoff) My pickup does about 100 I did do that on the pa turnpike keeping up to traffic no less on my way to upstate N.Y. but that is plenty fast in anything.

I know, but testing that kind of speed in a full size pickup could be diastrous. Now if it was built for that, (ie lightnings), then I could see differently but on a track.

I did this because fullsize pickup is cheaper to insure and has alot of diffrent useages like running from cops off road try doing that in a mustang. I have to move fast even if I have no where to go.

I figured running from the cops would come in to play somewhere. There is one thing that you cannot outrun. And that my friend is a radio, and a video camera. Once your plate is entered into their system as a runner, you are labeled for life!

My advice, don't try it! Because eventually, you will be caught or you will kill someone. If you kill someone by running from the cops you might as well chock it up! That's automatically jail time.

Why are you going to run in the first place? Is there some reason you don't want to be pulled over, if so then you shouldn't be driving in the first place.

Very dangerous, dude. Please be careful of the families out on the road doing the speed limit.

You the same guy who posted this "amazing feat" over at www.f-150online.com? If so what was your rpm when you were doing 140?

I think I have this all figured out he's between 17-19 has no respect for other drivers and doesn't have to stop when the red lights come on behind him he is to good for that how many stories do we have to hear about people like this who run from the cops and crash with some innocent persons life in the mix. Agood piece of advise save it for where it belongs on a track somewhere 140 is way too fast for the highway and in new jersey if you get caught at that speed you don't just pay a fine you lose your license on the spot!!! Jakegypsum,

People who run from the cops don't care about the people going the speed limit. They just don't want to go to jail, the only thing they never realize is that if they hurt someone while running from the cops it's usually mandatory jail time (depending on jurisdiction). How do I know? I've studied law enforcement, and keep up with those kind of things.

If this guy wants to pull this intelligent stunt, maybe he'll realize several years from now while he's sitting in a jail cell that maybe those guys were right.

But that probably won't happen.

John,

I believe that is the case in a lot of places!

Plus being labeled as a runner, I'm not so sure that an employer would find out about that when they run background check. Hmmm, do I hear No Job?

Hotrod, Your right.
I know a lot of people who have done crazy things, including myself, and are very thankful that nothing bad ever happened. I used to run the hell out of my first 4x4 pickup. The only difference was that I did it off the road. If I were to lose control and hit a tree or whatever, then I would have brought that on myself. Not involving anyone else.

Hmmm, that's a good question you bring up. According to my chiltons manual the Horsepower for a 95 with a 5.0 lists it as 205 @ 4000 rpm. Now the torque specs list 275 ft lbs @ 3000 rpm.

But Ford didn't have an engine in any of the trucks in 95 that put out anything more than 245 HP and that was the 460 EFI!

Hmmm, sounds suspicious.......anybody predict snow?

I couldn't agree with you guys more. I used to try and push the limits myself.(not to the point of running from the cops)I was doing everything to make my little flareside faster.I really scared the living s**t out of myself and everybody else with the potential.Anyway, 5 months ago my wife bore us a son. Now, if I even think about speed, I just visualize his innocent face and that brings intelligence back to me.(plus it saves my truck)I guess what I'm trying to say is man, don't do it on the highway; think of the rest of us. Tracks are safer. Just my humble pie........Steve
