Ride of my life huh? Judging from the way you talk it would probably be the last ride of my life, and probably as many other innocents on the highway that you take out as possible.
And you say WE are the thickheaded ones?
Try again. At least some of us have the good sense enough to drive with enough courtesy to not endanger the lives of innocent people.
Also, if you want to run from the cops. Do it on foot, you are probably safer that way, oh that's right I forgot you can't drive in NJ!
LAST EDITED ON 26-Jan-01 AT 09:08 PM (EST)[p]I'm also glad you can't drive in NJ. I live here and drive home from work at 3 am on major interstates. I have already had 2 Driver's doors "shaved" off by truckers falling asleep or admittingly going too fast. You can keep your "ride of your life" in your special order truck. That's your perogative. I just feel bad that if something goes wrong your family will be "adopting" another. I enjoy life at a safe speed and don't feel I need to prove anything. Stay safe.....Steve
450hp, okay 16 or 50 whatever, I have a 95 mustang Boss with a 5.0 HO it doesn't have that kind of HP h*ll a cobra doesn't have that kind of HP but I know alot Of mustang owners myself included that will go to the track with you anytime and anywhere just bring the title cause we all like ford trucks too.

Ok, this truck is F-150 right? But yet it has F-250 undercarriage? You must have more money than sense to do something that dumb! Geesh, why didn't you just buy a 3/4 ton?
Oh, that's right. That makes too much sense, and of course you can't do 140 in a 3/4 ton.
Oh yeah, and there is a very hot place that has frozen over as well!
I can't believe some people actually believe what comes out of their own mouths. Reminds me of a former President. I didn't o that, well could you define that. No, I didn't do that! Oh wait yeah I did!
Hmmm.......I smell something stinky!! And I think it's a story!
I only have some advice and two questions. One question is, by pulling the number 8 fuse, you only disable the key in door alarm, seatbelt alarm, & dome lights. Now, I know all those bells and whistles can be distracting while going for the land speed record, but I don't think they would disable critical engine function. The next question is why do we get too old too fast and too smart too late? As for the advice, stop and smell the roses before you become a greasestain on the interstate.
It seems this topic has struck quite a nerve in some of you, and for good reason. We are talking about criminal speeding here. Putting aside the unsubstantiated claims of outrageous speeds in a pickup, I don't care if you have been operating a vehicle since age 5. The fact is most people think they are excellent drivers with such unparralelled skill that they are impervious to any accident. Now throw in a cocky, self richous and ignorant personality and you instantly have a reciepe for a disaster. Do you have any idea what a minivan carrying a family of four looks like after it has been hit by a vehicle travelling at these speeds? I am a voulenteer figherfighter, and I have responded to highway accidents like this. So you still maintain that "nothing can happen to me". Lets stop and think what would happen if a tire blew out. So your truck is maintained better than your home...these things can still happen. As a last note; I don't ever intend any disrespect to anyone here without warrent. i am not here to start a fight...simply to stop an accident.

If you would like to read of his so called amazing feat, go over to f-150 online! Go into the forums, and click on pre-1997 models. It not hard to find this "story" it has 26 posts to it.
I just read the opening message. Totally different story than what he is saying here! Now I know why he is so defensive. Story has multiple inconsistencies!
1. Here he has the ticket to prove it!
Over there, he had a friend clock him at the track!
2. Here top speed is 140.
There top speed is 145?
3. Here it has 3.55LS!
There it has 3.05LS?
Then the story changes to "I was on a straightaway" Hmmm, I thought all drag tracks were straightaways?
Also, he has the police record to prove that it'll do 135 in NJ?
Another story change!
He was supposedly clocked by a standard police laser unit. Relative is a cop? Then why did he get a ticket?
He again offers to take someone for a ride in his "miracle truck"
This story gets better and better. And he didn't realize his typo on his gears until far down the list of messages!
TO me he sounds like a guy I ran into at the local speed shopo a while back, with a little foreign job. Said he had well over 350 horsepower. When asked what mods he had done, he said "nothing but standard bolt ons like a filter, exhaust and a chip"
Yeah, stupid added up the "up to's" on the boxes and came out with that figure. What a dope!
capttim, did you ever hear of a speed rated tire on a pickup? I haven't Afriend of mine tows for the city and he went and got a ford explorer the other day they say the right front tire blew out at 60 and that thing looks like nobody could have survived it rolled about 5 or 6 times and then went in the woods the driver survived but was taken to the hospital where he spent 2 days you can hardly tell what it was I can't imagine anything going over and in the woods at more than twice that speed.

Dude, my truck is basically the same as yours although I have a 2.73 rear end and mods, I have hit my speed governor often on deserted desert roads out here in southern cali, but that is 107 mph, and doing 3200 RPM in 4th gear, now seeing as I have a 2.73 ULTRA HIGH gas economy rear end, and I'm winding out that high at speed govern, and I am mildly moded with port/polished upper and lower intake and heads, with the obligatory exhaust and K&N FIPK kit, I would have to call bull***** on this one.
Oh and if like you said you were clocked at the track, what do you run the 1/4 in? STOCK I ran a 1/4 mile at sears point raceway in 16.5@83MPH with a .502 light, I haven't run my truck since the mods but I'm sure it wont be much of a difference since my trucks a damn brick.
Oh you drive trucks huh? I have had a CDL for 10 years. Big deal, doesn't make me a better driver, a more CAUTIOUS driver yes. I don't think anyone would mind if you were doing it on a closed course, I would be the first to say cool on that. Doing it on the open road at ANY time is stupid. I like to think my family is safe on the road. I have a 13 month old daughter, I would really hate to think of some moron cutting her life short over a little speed. The only idiot I see here is you. Trucks are not designed to be race machines. If I want to go fast I will get in my 66 Fairlane. The truck is my get to work and tow vehicle though. Just my 2 cents.
I'm glad this 450hp psycho is on the east side of the country! Unfortunately, out here in California we've got plenty of similar nut-cases. Simply said, driving at anywhere close to 100mph on a public road is criminal. I've witnessed a couple of bad accidents and once had to help lift a Suburban off some character pressed into the pavement by the hood. For most of us, driving is the most dangerous thing we do, and morons like Mr. 450hp up the ante each time they get on the road. I think besides gigantic fines (should be bigger than they are!), people like him should have to do a ride-along with paramedics and get a close look at the kind of pain, misery and carnage they cause. Life is short enough. Why be in such a hurry to get it over with? Go out and have a safe, fun trip in your most excellent Ford trucks!
I am crazy I run From MA to PA in about 4.5hrs and it is a seven hour trip at reg speeds. The Truck hum's like a bee when i hite 145 but keeps going. ........Thats one of his posts from F-150 online.com his username is MLH and the topic name is TOP SPEED not amazing feat as previously mentioned what a hoot this old man is
