Happy Easter Monday folks. I think that children have 10 days off school here.
A cool but sunny day here, slowly warming up this week. I hope that rain stays away as some folks are still looking to finish up what`s left of last yr`s harvest.
We're coming into a warm dry spell for a while and hopefully it'll make it your way Morris. Walked to the RONA this morning and it sure hurt, felt like the day after skating if you haven't skated for a few years. Almost time to start on a neighbors step and metal rail repair so ttyl.
That warm spell is slowly making it`s way here Perry, 4°C right now, a chance of showers this week with 70% Sunday. Hope that aching feeling passes soon.
Turned out to be a slow and easy day, got done what I needed done, guy who was bugging me for the motor and transmission is playing the jerk around game. The girl upstairs manage to find a piece of ice to slip on and broke her leg, did it on city property so she'll get a settlement. Still feeling sore and tired, maybe cleaning out the back end is catching up with me. Good thing tomorrow is an easy day.
Back at you John, tho a bit cool it turned out to be a nice day here.
A bummer about that upstairs breaking her leg, that`s a real poor start to spring.
While at a store parking lot today I talked to a guy with a white 2012 F150 Super Cab FX4 identical to mine to see how he liked it and he has 3 more as company trucks. The only problem he had was one water pump, so far no other problems. He mentioned that he wasn`t a Ford guy until he bought these 4. His wife now drives an Edge.
Guy stopped by today as I was leaving the yard, he's got his dad's 50 Ford with a tilt deck, says it's all original but his dad has alzheimers so he doesn't know all the details. It's only 4 blocks away and he's only talking $900 at this point, might check it out.
Girl will get a settlement from the city but it'll take about 6 weeks, should be good for up to 5 grand. Either way they'll cover her before tax income.
Sigurd has a 2015 FX4 that he parks in front of my 75, likes it but is getting frustrated with the scratches on his plastic chrome.
There's yard work on my list for tomorrow, want to build up part of the front yard. Have an oven burner on an old bbq that I want to put into one of the other bbq's. Have a bolt and anchor to put into Evelyns balconey and a piece of strap metal to weld onto Junes hand rail as it flex's to much for her liking. Got to keep the old maids happy.
Wonder what size that 50 Ford with the deck is, must be at least a two ton. Did he mention if it`s running, how much rust, etc? $900 isn`t bad but there really isn`t a lot of interest in anything bigger than a 1/2 to so you may get it for less. Hopefully it`s been stored inside.
I`d sooner be 5 grand poorer and not have a broken leg when summer is around the corner. Plus pain hurts!
How come Sigurd is getting scratches on his FX4`s chrome?
I`m not a big fan of it but so far mine doesn`t have any.
If your should is real bad I`d give it as much rest as possible John. My back feels a lot better with a day or two`s rest. You can always hire someone to help out as well.
A bit of yard work is on my list for this week depending on rain, so far it doesn`t sound real great. If it rains I have my 53 M100 resto rod to mess with. Late this afternoon I robbed the park brake handle and some parking brake cables of my 54 parts truck. A friend wants to buy it, I told him $300 for what`s left but I better get what little hard to find parts off of it first. If he doesn`t want it after that than I don`t care, it doesn`t take long to get $300 out of it in just small parts. My 53 restored M100 needs the mechanism and handle for the vent below the windshield, I`m sure there`s a lot more as well.
Yes, keep those old maids happy best you can, they may leave you a small fortune that`s buried under their mattress.
Rain this week and this weekend Colin, while it was a nice winter I wish it would finally warm the heck up.
The guy spotted me and knew the trucks in front are mine. He claims the truck is in good shape and would list it for 1500 but he's cleaning out his yard, has a 74 MG for 2500 also. I'll give it a look over, says it's a dually. Wouldn't mind a 50 dually with a 5' or 6' box, I have the suspension from the totaled 79 and x member for the twin I beam and have a dually rear end. Could put together a cheap rat rod as I have most if not all the parts except the box but that could always be a stake side flat deck.
I'm glad I don't have a bum shoulder or hip to slow me down, am slow enough as it is.
Sometimes it pays to be a well known man in your neighbour hood, especially when it comes to trucks. If it`s not bigger than a 1 ton your plan might work.
I`m slow plus I have a bad back so you have me beat.
All my parts are F350 related so I'll bring a measuring tape with when I look at it, even if it's a 21/2 ton it'll probably be workable but it would be a headache I don't need. Being known can have it's benefits but also has a down side. Right now the downside are the small distractions that keep getting in the way of getting the yard done before May comes around, May is usually a strong month for making $$'s, July usually has a heatwave that gets me back into my own projects as the back yard is pretty cool that time of year.
