Tough month up North. The F/V Destination turned turtle last week, all hands lost including a couple buddies. The F/V Predator slammed into the beach after someone fell asleep at the wheel, all evacuated, but boat is most likely dead where she sits. And our mail plane belly landed in Dutch a few days ago.. for the third time. They might want to review their maintenance routines on that one..
Knock on wood, I hope these things do indeed come in threes!
That's crazy. I know it's dangerous work up there, but that's quite a run of bad luck. What work are you doing up there?

Whatever it is, stay safe...
Will do!
To answer your question best I can, fishing is my primary occupation. Engineer more specifically. For seasons like this winter where the opilio season was very short and not so profitable, I stay and either hop into another fishery or take contract work until my lady says I made enough money to come home. At the moment I'm the engineer on a transport boat for Trident Seafoods for the next month or two. During warmer months side work might be boat repair/fabrication, or residential fixer-upper projects. With what I'm learning on restoring our two classics, I should be able to add auto repairs (another woefully lacking trade skill in small communities) to the repertoire in a few years. So, fishing is the short version, 'whatever pays for my expensive habits' is more apt.
Hello dead thread...what are folks plans for the weekend? I think we're going on a road trip on Saturday. Need to get out of the house and run the truck.
I've been looking for a place to cleanly mount a pair of aux lights. I like these as they keep them off the bumper. I fear a rogue Prius hitting them in a parking lot. But I'm kind of worried about the light reflecting off the hood back into the cab. Thoughts?

I need to find a winch bumper for mine.
I have had this 8k winch sitting in the garage for some time
and on the truck might be a nice place to put it. Much better
than in a box on the garage floor. The only thing it's good for
in the box on the floor is tripping over. Just ask me how I know
that one.
