Tailgate Assist Shock
Has anybody installed/used a tailgate assist shock on their truck. I have heard they work fairly well.

Saw one on the last truck I worked on. They are nice and my first thought was to get one... still haven't done it yet. No more slamming tailgate from kids or lazy people. The fact of being able to drop the tailgate without slamming while standing in the bed is worth the $30 to me.

I didn't buy mine to help me lift the tailgate closed.
It's to keep the tailgate from slamming down when opening it... mainly one handed.
Now I can flip the handle and let it fall. No slamming down open.
Worth every penny.
The next best mod was a Pop-n-Lock electric tailgate lock.

My Tundra had that feature and when I was looking at trucks before I got my new on a few weeks ago, I walked to the back of one of the Super Duty's, flipped the tail gate lever and the thing came crashing down. Startled me a little as I was so used to the Tundra having the feature. I guess I figured they were all like that now. For $30 bucks I may just have to put one on it. I also have the tailgate step and it is fairly heavy.
