I ordered a 2017 6.2l with g- transmission 4:30 gears and I'm very diasppointed. Gearing and power is great but I'm having drivetrain issues from the day it rolled off the lot. I have posted a thread on "reliable combo" thread. I wish I had never ordered the f250 but instead the f350 with a tried and trued transmission. At this point I will not recommend this new transmission. Maybe... it's not the transmission but its not tires or engine. Gas mileage for this 4x4 crew crab is averaged 11-12, unloaded mixed highway. I will post if I ever get this issue fixed.
Sorry to hear you are having problems.
Just an FYI it is not a new transmission, the 6r100 has been built for years now. Just a new configuration for the SD.
What kind of issues are you having?
I have the torqueshift-g with just over 14k miles on my truck now. Been happy with it. I miss my manual, but it has been as well behaved as any automatic I've driven, and normally does what I'd expect, which leads me to believe it's going to hold up.
Doesn't help fuel mileage much. A bit, perhaps, but I'm happy with it regardless.

I am getting 12.5-15 MPG hand calculated unloaded with the 3.73 rear axle. 4x4 supercab with 7 foot flatbed. Got just a hair better with the original pickup bed.
That doesn't seem too far out to me. My old truck got 17, and it had a V6, and my dad's 8.1L Chevy gets 10... loaded and running faster than I normally do, he gets 7.5 and I got 9.5.
To respond to one comment I do realize the 6r100 is not new but it is not the same as what used to come in all superduties, different gears valves, ect.
Mine has a shutter that is felt under light acceleration at 20, 45, 60 and then a constant vibration in the steering wheel and sometimes gas pedal at 68. The dealer stated they performed a 2pc driveshaft runout which I don't trust that they did considering it has a 1 piece. The vibration at 68 feels like it could be tires but 3 sets of tires are not going to create the exact problem with the same degree of vibration. It has an occasional bump while stopping right before or immediately after stopping. It doesn't bump when gas it pressed again like f150 yoke spline issues. Mine has a slight "jiggle " felt throughout when hitting small bumps in the road. I drove 4 trucks before ordering and they drove totally different. I'm most upset with the dealership and ford disregarding the issue by blaming it on tires again. Ive had the truck since feb 6 and ive been in a rental car longer than the truck. My previous 2016 f250 had rear bounce and valve jack hammering also blamed on tires. I know all manufacturers put out vehicles that can be bad but ive gotten 2 in a row, 2 totally different configurations. My main reason to join forum is that i can not at this point recommend this transmission. Granted this might not be transmission but it is definitely in the driveline/drivetrain. If I get this issue fixed I will update.

Why would you post on this transmission thread when you don't know if it's the transmission causing the issue?
For some that want to know, I average 11-12 mpg unloaded, mixed highway. Stock tires, 50-60 mph. I'm a very conservative driver. Power is very good, of course not like the diesel. The transmission shifts good, like most trucks I've driven. I've yet to tow, because I need it out if the shop long enough to hook up my 7000# camper. Truck is 4x4 crewcab.

I have never seen a transmission cause issues that are anything like this.
Wow! I didn't expect the last 2 replies. Sorry, I'm only sharing my experience with this setup. I'm not blaming it on transmission. Hoping for possible solutions, Buy whatever you want.

Maybe not, but what about a bad wheel? Or diff? Or any number of other potential causes?

But you are blaming the transmission.
Sorry that you are having problems with your truck. Sounds like dealer isn't doing a good job solving problem for you. I hope you are giving them all the symptoms. Hopefully they will figure it out for you soon.
I don't think this is a tranny issue. I believe from experience most of the time it is a tire or wheel problem. Most things in our world are being built cheaper with less quality, no reason tires and wheels are any different.
