vibration/shutter at 20mph, 45mph, 60mph

Just joining this thread, I ordered a 2017 f250 with 4.30 gears with this new g transmission. I traded in my 2016 f250 6.7l 20,000 miles with multiple issues (one being the 45mph rear end hop) to get rid of it and now I regret it. I have less than 1800 miles and it has been in the dealership 6 times, 2 different dealerships with a vibration issue. 68mph is the worst vibration. It has a vibration/shutter at 20mph, 45mph, 60mph. It bumps into gear when stopping occassional. One dealership keeps saying bad tires. Tires have been replaced twice already, no change. A ford engineer inspected the truck and used a digital vibration analyzer and stated tires. The dealer tried to approve another brand of tires other than continental and ford said no. Set number 3 is going on today or tommorrow. Dealer number two felt the vibration and did not thinlk it was tires since they had already been replaced. I really like the truck but am beginning to hate it. I will not recommended this combo to anyone. I actually can't recommend ford trucks to anyone at this point. Spend the extra and get the f350 with the old tranny. Looking at f150 transmission issue from multiple sites, this g transmission seems to be a beefed up f150 tranny with all the same issues.

Hey rnmst, welcome to FTE. I split your post off and moved it into its own thread in the '17 forum so we don't get confused.

What makes you think the issue is transmission? Vibration issues are rarely in the transmission...tires and driveline are more common.

Sorry you are having issues. If it were me, it would be time to lawyer up. This is exactly the type of thing we have lemon laws for. Your truck is obviously not right.

Several years ago I had a similar experience with a car (not a Ford truck). It was in the shop for 100 days in of my first year of ownership. I hired a lawyer specializing in lemon law cases and after emailing all of my service records, I had a payoff check in just 30 business days. No drama and I didn't have to do anything else.

I had that issue with my 2011 F250 6.2L. When it was bad 72 mph was the worst with 48 mph a little less and 24 mph just a light vibration.
Here is what I had done over the 125k miles I drove it:
I had the u-joints replaced with no change.
Drive shaft replaced & it calmed down substantially but not gone.
Alignment. No change
New tires, got worse to the point of almost undriveable.
Tires road force balanced at the largest independent tire dealer in the area. They said 2 tires were not balance-able (Firestone). Ford replaced those tires. No change.
Road force balanced again. Not much better. After a battle I got a full refund for the Firestone tires.
Put on Cooper Discoverer AT2... Road force balanced. Problem 95% resolved.
Next set of Cooper tires no issue.
Final set of Cooper Discoverer tires at 115K vibration returned at about 50% of the worst. Road force balanced and the vibration reduced to about 15% of worst.
I left it at that since my 2017 was due any time. I was forced to get new tires since it was winter & the other ones were almost bald.

What did I learn? If there is ANY little bit of unbalance in the drive line it will transmit through the truck. I think there was something that we never replaced that was the root of the problem and tires that were not perfect magnified the problem. If you look at the numbers they are even multiples of 24 in my case. Meaning that there is a harmonic at that number of rpm of the driveline that causes the magnification of the unbalance when that speed is maintained.

Sorry to hear that. My 2011 F350 CCLB had the 45mph hop pretty bad and lived with it for years. My 2017 F350 CCLB has no sign of it. I went for a long drive before buying to make sure. Hope you get it sorted out.
