I just talked to my friend who is one of the best mechanics I know and trust very much. He would like you to call him about your plans. He told me that transmission may not be the best bet for you. He has been wrenching at least 40years.
His name is Charles Brazil. His number is 706 601 8565. Call him tomorrow make sure you tell him I told you to call him.
Thanks Hugh I will call him today.
Chief good luck on your Trip. I feel like being covered it dirt and grease is the only evidence you have been working on a vehicle. No matter how hard I try I always get dirty. But the truck will look clean when I am done.
dropped the knuckles off to have the king pin bushings reamed out for the king pins. Found me a good machine shop, good ole southern boys, know their ****. Dirty shop, but impressive stuff.

Strange a machine shop would be dirty knowing how picky machines are.
The trip went very well. Atlanta traffic was horrible which seems to be a normal occurrence. The service was very nice and I got a small urn with a little bit of grandma's ash's.
The right seal should be in today for the rear end so I hope to get it installed and finally be done with that. I got an exhaust clamp so I can finish tightening down the exhaust too. Then taking it for an alignment next week and then I will be done with the mandatory maintenance/repairs.
I want to see if I can get the aux generator running/working, it turns over but hasn't run since I bought the rig. It would be nice to get it working but it's not a show stopper. I unlatched and pulled the awning down and took a look at it. The fabric is shot but I have a broken spring or something going on inside the roller tube.

Glad everything went well. If you runout of time on the awning repair/replace, you could get one of those 10x10 pop up canopies. Would give you some shade.

I have been thinking of doing that... great minds think alike.

Hey Hugh,
I called him waiting to hear back. I hope he offers a simpler cheaper solution. I joined this other forum Fordication.net but its no where near as good as FTE. Its getting down to the wire. I know what block headers, carb I want I just wish I knew the best way to get it all done quickly even if I had all the parts.
[QUOTE=Big_Texxan;16152077]i love gear oil. sarcasm.
Safe travels man

Do you know if that shop does anything with drive shafts? I know with a new transmission I will need to shorten my two piece driveshaft and possible put a different yoke on it. I wish I knew how to fab stuff for my build. This outsourcing is getting pricy :/

If you do not hear from him by Monday call him back. Have you considered an E4OD? They were behind a lot of trucks.
Ask Charlie were to take your driveshaft He has a ford 9 in out of a 1985 van. Not sure of the condition.
What do you mean quickly are going to take off work or is going to be a weekends project?

I was hoping to finish this project if I had all the pieces done in a couple weekends. I would consider the e40D but its a bigger transmission so i didn't know if it would fit under my truck sinces its a 100 not a 250 or 350. I would still need a controller. that would work with it too. It is long wheel base which helps but I have never seen it done in all my research. I want to try and use the mustang shorties with the factory exhaust for the break in then long tube and dual exhaust once thats done.

It was in 150 from 89 to 93. Junkyard should be full of them . Could grab everything from the donor truck. Baumann makes a controller for it also.
If you did not use the aftermarket controller would have to do some research on the vss un less you grabbed the rear end out of the same truck that would an 8.8 not a 9 inch you can still get a disc brake conversion for it.

I didn't work on the motorhome today, helped the wife with the little guy, cleaned her SUV and my car, both were dirty from trips to NC. She wanted to do some spring cleaning so I helped her with that too. Tomorrow is full on motorhome repair. I am having some pretty rough dental surgery on Thursday so I will be out of it for a week or so. Trying to get a ahead since I know I am going to a bum in a drug induced coma for a few days.

You may or not be drug induced. The way things are changing with pain pills. Tramdol is considered dangerous now.
