OK removed the valve cover: wiring is good and torque is good. Resistance is the same as I posted before. Service light returned, today after sitting a day or two, the battery ran down low and on the third try it started and the service light was out??? What would clear the light when all I did was try to start the truck with what I consider a low battery charge?
thanks
My guess would be the under valve cover harness. When you get an intermittent fault like that it tends to be a loose or bad wire connection.
Took it to dealer and this is what I have: P0236, P1670, P0676 and P1139...
OK... I would have to say 6 weeks is a long run for not making much progress.
That P0236 can come back over and over, lighting up the CEL. Are you chipped? Have you noticed if the light fires when you do something very specific with your right foot?
Did you shop for an OBDII adapter yet? [LINK] For the price of one single computer hook-up at the dealership, your smartphone, tablet, or PC can check the codes as frequently as you want - and help you troubleshoot the truck. With my OBDII adapter, I have many apps on my tablet and PC that allow me to conduct all the tests the members here have mentioned - plus I can monitor all the sensors on the truck.
Recap:
1.Check from dealer: P0683 GPCM, P0670 & P01670 EF open circuit
2. changed fuel & oil filter with fluid
3. Plug intake air heater
4.Checked resistance driver side all look OK
5. Replaced steering gear box
6. Replaced ball joints
7. Replaced front and rear shock
8. removed the driver side valve cover and checked the connection, torque and wire harness. Looks Ok.
This is a 2wd drive excursion.

Cyclinder contributions test P0284 and P0541
Cleared codes

KOEO - no codes
KOER - no codes

This is the update as of today I will check the codes if/when the service engine light returns.
Truck runs and starts without issue.
I think I can close this out. After my check with the Snap-on 2500, I found on this site the check out for the GPCM. Followed the procedure and replaced the GPCM. All is well after a week. Thanks for the help.
