Few codes popped up

I was plowing snow, truck running great. Then I see check engine light, a code popped up, something about glow plugs, I cleared it, never came back on. Then in half an hour I looked, and check engine light on again. I checked codes and got 0344. Truck seems to be running fine, what gives?

0344 is:

P0344 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent (bank1/1 Sensor)(not continuous or steady signal)

Do you recall what the first code was? P0380 glow plug circuit maybe?

P 0381 is

P0381 Glow Plug Indicator Circuit Error

I would just change out the CPS and wait and see if the P0381 pops up again. Don't know why this would come on while plowing, I can see at start up........

I'll run it tmr and see what happens, if it pops up again, I'll put in a different cps. I just don't know why codes pop up when the truck is running perfect.

Here is how it went today, 0344 never popped on unless I used my windshield wipers. I'll be ordering a new one from Clay.
After plowing half my people, the truck stuck in 4x4 low, couldn't get it out. The low range or 4x4 light was not on in the dash.
Unplugged and plugged the connectors in on the Tcase motor, nothing, checked fuses, all good, switched relays around under the hood, nothing.
Left the switch in the 2wd position, went to a buddy's place and tried it again, it went into 2wd, but not back into 4x4.
Popped his 4x4 switch out and put it in mine, no change. He had a new Tcase motor in the shop, unplugged the wires from mine and plugged the wires into the new one. Motor wouldn't turn, but now the 4x4 light was on in the dash.
I connected the wires to my original one, nothing, no light.
Once I got home tired it again, nothing. Then tired again and the 4x4 light came on, moved ahead, I was in 4x4, I tired 4x4 low, also went right in.
So I went back plowing, worked perfect the rest of the day.
Any ideas on that?

After reading info on CPS's I'm more confused then ever.
People liking the dark blue, saying to myself, I'll get that one! then read another page and bunch of people saying no the grey one is better than that blue crap! Then a someone comes in and says, no just get one from Napa.
I see Clay sells the dark blue one, so it must be good

I think Tugly (Rich) posted some data on the different CPS's.....I would send him a PM if he doesn't chime in here. I've used the grey and the black and I can't tell the difference from the seat of the pants feel.

I can not recall when or why but there was some posts about the windshield wipers and codes. Not sure if it caused the same codes as yours but I need to see if I can find them.

the 4x4, have you checked your vacuum lines going to the hubs? SOunds like you've checked all the electronic circuits - any 4x4 codes present? Do you have A & E? With A&E you can monitor some aspects of the 4x4 system.

I have the warn manual locking hubs, so the vacuum lines shouldn't matter this this case, correct?
No 4x4 codes present.
No, I do not have A&E.

That is correct.

Has the 4x4 acted up since you last posted?

I just want to make sure..........

When you go to put it in 4x4 low you need to:

be in Neutral
depress the brake pedal
occasionally I have to get it moving first then try again.

Please don't get offended by the question, I figured you knew this since you are plowing and in 4x4 mode often. I just wanted to make sure.

This seems to be CPS related. Here is the link to one thread.....

No harm in double checking!
Yes, that is the exactly what I do to get it in or out of 4x4 low.
The 4x4 is now working perfect. Why, I do not know I didn't replace anything. Hopefully it was just a connection somewhere, but everything looked like new when I unplugged it.
Hopefully it keeps working, and doesn't decide to not work when I need it!

Well, I guess i'm headed out to replace the CPS. I'll put in the grey Ford one. The others I have are aftermarket. I don't know which CPS is in the motor now.

I would do the same, in the small amount of research I did it seems the aftermarket ones have given quite a few people problems.
