'01 F-250 7.3 L diesel
Cruise stopped working shortly after engine removal. I took it back to the shop and he said there was a problem in the brake pressure switch circuit but didn't have time to fix it. I replaced the brake pressure switch and nothing. I removed the recall harness to troubleshoot and nothing. I took back to the shop and they said still in that circuit. They replaced the cruise bulb just in case but still nothing.
The horn works.
No blown fuse.
Recall harness does NOT have continuity through both wires, only one, but is removed at this time.
The brake pressure switch was aftermarket from Oreillys and looks slightly different but seems to work the same.
What do I look at next? The shop that did the engine work is good, but they don't have time to look at it so the truck will be there for at least a week and that doesn't work for me.
I got rid of the thing with the blue sticker. Is the bottom part the replacement for the blue sticker harness and the part that screws into the master cyl?
Does your emergency brake light work, and if so does it come on when it is supposed to?
Yes, it lights up in the instrument cluster. No, it doesn't come on when you press the e brake. The wire is hooked to the switch. (It has come unplugged in the past)
Wait, there was a recall on the recall?? How can I tell which one I have?
I don't know if it was officially a second-layer recall, but I know the replacement unit from the original recall fails. I learned this from searching the internet when mine died, so it's not something we can break out the chisel and stone over.
The blue one was the unit installed in 2010 before I bought the truck, and the replacement unit was installed within the last year.

That would explain what I saw at the dealer this morning. The blue sticker thing subbed to a new number, but the parts guy was gone and nobody knew what was going on.
