out to the keys. Had a question; what's a reasonable amount of clearance between the bed rails and the fifth wheel?

I did this twice. My bad.

I thought it was at least 6" but more is better if you can get the trailer level. At 4" I would be watching some of the dips that are at the approaches to some places.

4-6" is what I would expect for clearances

Thanks for the info guys. I notice there is 3 settings on the hitch itself. It's in the middle setting I think if I bring it down it will be about 2 inches at the most. I will have to measure the clearance first though while it's turned to make sure the neck clears the rails too now that I think about it. Guess that's what I get for want a 6' lift; pic was at Boyd's camp ground in key west.

You can probably get away with 4" with a short bed truck while I sure wouldn't want less then 6" with a long bed, especially if the 5er doesn't have the extended pin box. Or, of course, by staying on a nice smooth road and low approach hills 4" will work on the long bed.

I have been told 5-7" for the height between bed and trailer. Nice motorcycle also! I used to have a 2003 GSX-R Alstare until someone turned left in front of me and ended the life of the bike. I then bought a 2008 Hayabusa which was a lot of fun for a few years.

I have somewhere between 8-10 inches on mine and I've been pretty close to touching a few times. I tend to camp off the beaten path though. Here's a pic of our rig. Not as nice as some but it gets the job done.

Nice!

I like it right sized for camping off the beaten path and short enough to pull a small boat as well!

Starting to make improvements to the Montana ...........

The 50A Power Line is a heavy hunk of copper........
Instead of coiling it up and getting a fork lift to put it in the storage compartment..........
A Reel to make the job easy........

Roy - that is a nice add on. I've looked at the reels as well but since I seldom use the 50 amp wire (only have one a/c until later this year) just leave ours coiled in the 5er's basement and use the short or long 30 amp cable with an adapter.
