Then I would not trust the scangauge. Get a bluetooth adapter and TorquePro app for a smart phone and try that, or get a hydraulic pressure gauge and plumb it into one of the heads.
I have an elm bluetooth dongle somewhere-ill dig it out.
That will read icp with the free torque app?
Or do I need to buy the real torque app?
HD Rider invited me to the party under the guise of answering Torque questions.
This sounds to me like you might get this bad boy running for the price of 8 sets of injector O-rings from Riffraff diesel. No ICP, fuel bleeding everywhere, lots of smoke, hydrolocking - you have an injector really loose or some bad O-rings. Do the Cody test to be sure.
Any foreign fluids in the coolant?
Torque Pro is worth it, if your device connects to the OBDII/BT adaptor.
I had someone come look at the truck and try to scan it-he said the truck won't communicate with the computer-something electrical is wrong with it.
Tried cranking it and it wouldn't fire-he used ether and it ran for a couple seconds off it and died.
His verdict was its not getting fuel/injectors arnt firing.
I have fuel coming into the fuel bowl up front (can drain the bowl-turn the key on and it refills the bowl)
Again-this is 5ish year old diesel! So I'm sure its lost some potency.
Check all the fuses. Don't forget the ones under the hood. I believe the diagnostic port is powered from the cig lighter fuse. The WTS light indicates the PCM is getting power.
If all the fuses are good, try swapping the PCM from another truck.
Not sure what it was called. He has an adapter to a toughbook laptop and tried two different softwares that I guess he uses on 7.3's all he time and it works.
But it wouldn't connect to my truck-which makes sense because my scangauge didn't seem to work with my truck even though it would "connect" it wouldn't read anything but volts.
