My dad had that and a weak heart. I feel for you. I also have edenpure heaters. They work well and are very efficient.

Well fortunately when I built the house 10 years ago I put a central HVAC heat pump system in also. Used it mostly just for the air up until the middle of last winter.

Mine is a double wide. Central heat and air but the heat is straight electric furnace. Eats me up in the winter.

I'm just now on the mend from the worst chest cold I can remember in years.

But that about a winter storm is exactly what I was watching out for going into february, and I may keep up my NWS report minding until Easter or thereabouts.

Seems we have a serious flow of arctic air rolling in beginning on Sunday and lasting at least into the midweek.

Seem dang strange, since it's near 70 degrees where I am right now. But that's how it does - get right to the warm and happy, then rip it all right on down. No wonder we get sorry colds and flu at the beginning of the year, the body is so confused it has no idea what to do next...

I have something going on right now. I don't know if it's the flu or a real bad chest cold. I about passed out this morning when I got out of bed. Sure has kicked my butt.

Knock on wood, other than the COPD, the lower back pain and the knee replacement that bothers me in this cold, I manage to keep going. Although these cold days really do curtail my activities. I have to make a trip to Ga. to haul out a bunch of trucks I'm trying to get ready for the super nats swap meet and the weather has really slowed my progress. I bought a new winch for my trailer, figured it would take me a day to rig up a mount and install it, but I'm on three days now and it's sitting on the bench in the shop. Took me that long just to get it ready, the shops not heated and the titanium knee and my feet get so cold I only last a couple of hours before I have to call it quits.

If I had a shop with climate control I'd never be seen again.

Well, yeah - except to go set up planters or a greenhouse.

I finally sent for a shop vac I've been needing, and that's going to be it for spending until I see if there's any way to drop that tree problem. If it comes down because of ice, all I can say is that I did my best to do something about it. Even the electric company was shown it and told about it, but they were no help at all. If something happens at this point God intended it that way...

Yep, the electric co's are good at that crap, you show them a problem and they say it's OK, or we will have someone else look at it (which NEVER happens) then when it comes down on it's own they are the first one to point a finger at you... #@$&^*%$ !!!!!!!

Around here, VEC (Volunteer Electric) contracts with a private company to do all the tree trimming around the wires. When I first moved here 10 years ago we had power outages at least 3-4 times a month. Over time the outages have decreased, but about 3 winters ago it was so bad we were having outages a couple times a week all winter long. They finally hired this tree company to come in and clear the trees back for about 20ft on either side of the lines, so now they don't hesitate to send them out to take care of tree problems.

What I was told by someone who knew, is that they have a THREE THOUSAND DOLLAR investment in each and every transformer that you see up on a pole.

The pole next to my house has one, and the wires running from it have a steel cable they are wrapped around to help support them.

If the tree comes down on the line - one of two things will happen, maybe both.

1) The mast gets ripped off of my house.

2) The transformer gets torn down...

I guess they done decided to leave it up to God

Seem like they a whole lotta Christian thinkin' individuals working everywhere these days - but in Asia they call that "FATALISM"

MY POPPA was PENNSYVANIA DUTCH clear dang through....
And if you see a thing like that which is GOING TO HAPPEN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER you don't wait until the barn is on fire!!!

Please forgive me Lord, BUT I HATE STUPID PEOPLE!!!

And now I am sitting here in this "box".

Does everything have to be ruined before anything is done?

I mean - first the poison ivy got me, and then this damned cold. TWO DAYS I could barely breathe. Now the ice storm I was worried about from the beginning is coming at us, sure as hell. None of this was unpredictable, and I did my level best to do something about it.

WHAT DOES A MAN HAVE TO DO?
I pray to God that tree stands up, or at least falls away from anything that matters if the ice fells it.
There isn't anything else I can see to do.

AMEN

A rare moment of clarity -
Snow falls, Ice falls, politicians rise and fall
Who cares. None care about me
Stuff falls, prices rise and fall
Stocks rise and fall, and things go to crap

Policies rise and fall
Politicians rise and fall
Commodities rise and fall
Society continues to fail...

CRIME rises, it does not seem to fall
If crime was a STOCK it would be priceless
This is because VICE is constant
Vices are a pure investment

But vice is illegal
This ensures that Government is a prime investment
Invest in law enforcement and it's equipment
This is a stock sure not to fail

There may or may not be war
But of vice and fighting in the streets you can be sure
Thus investing in SAM BROWN GEAR
That is a certain gain

There must always be cops -
Because there is no end of criminals
You can sell to the criminals
Or sell to the cops - or BOTH

It is a war without end
The ultimate win-win sellers market
As each expand into new technology
The other must spend to counter it

But understand from the beginning that the Government is a child running away with a credit card...
