From everything I read on the Crown Vic forum & see on Fords data as to HP & Torque the answer is NO. The forums talk about a lot of peoples miss conceptions about the subject.

Heavier Wiring/Different Computer
Bigger Torque Converter
Body Stiffeners
Heavier Springs & Shocks in 98 a new torsion set up.
Dual Exhaust some without resonators
Certified 140 mph Speedo/Gauges
(Wonderful Wide Comfortable Cop) Bucket Cloth Seats/Rubber Floor
Big Comfortable Vinyl Back Seat (for my Dog)
Extra Cooling for P/S, Trans, etc
I believe the R70W is Heavier Duty
Rear End Option with Locker Rear Ends.
Tires & Steel Wheels

But that is about the basic changes on mine. They did changes in 05 there were bigger changes because Ford changed the 4.6-6.8 & went to 3 valve engines.

I can tell you ours is pretty fast. I seldom get on it but if I need to it isn't even close to a slug. The handling is impressive for a big ole boat. It corners @ higher speeds real flat. It is easy to over steer if your not use to it.

Good morning AZ,

Hope everyone is doing well. Not much going here just figured I say "hi". Been pretty busy, studying and practicing for the nationals in August.

Missed ya man.
How was your sit in party?
We're headed to cooler weather. I don't know how Bart worked here in the summers. I can hardly ride in the car with A/C that works fine. Or as fine as A/C works with temps over 110.

Did Ford offer a Donut Maker & Coffee Brewer as an option on the Cop cars? If so does anyone know where I can get one?

It was ok but nobody came (probably because of all the other events going on this week and next weekend).

I know I need to stop pushing the explorer so hard I made it get hot again yesterday so I think from now on in that area I am going to lock it in 4x4 just because of how I was driving the truck.

5 years outside, 3 engine changes in the summer (those took me 26 hours by myself) my nurses would threaten to put a saline drip on me if I didn't come in every hour and get a drink!

When I was younger maybe I could of done it but these days no way. I keep a 6500/5500w generator here just in case the power ever goes out in the summer. I'm running A/C.

Howdy az gang.

Craig those are some nice cars but I still don't care for 4 bangers. LOL Me and my dad have only had 2 4 bangers out of 9 that ever were good. One was his 95 or 92 I can't remember the exact year Plymouth acclaim 5 speed that he got for free and the other was my second car I got which was a 87 Plymouth Reliant auto that I also got for free. Both of those cars we had for about 2-3 years before getting rid of and they both did great. My dad regrets getting rid of the acclaim but the Reliant I don't regret being it was to low profile of a car for these backroads and it was pretty much in perfect shape.

In these newer cars the only engine it seems worth a crap is the 4 bangers. GM my buddy has a 2.0 Cavalier & it has been trouble free with over 150K on the clock. Now how they will hold up at 130 mph or 154 mph in a Mustang we will see.
But history has shown the 4 cylinders very reliable even with them cranked up. Look at early Indy Cars. I believe they were powered by 4 cylinders.
I look at my wife's Honda 190K on a 80 or 90 hp 1500 cc motor. The motor has never ever been a problem. We have driven the crap out of it. Vici for two years commuted Hawthorne NV to Lee Vining CA. 62 miles one way. The first 8 miles you climb from 4300 ft to over 6000 ft. Then roll up & down until you hit the CA border at mile 32. That Honda did it 5 days a week for almost two years.

Hi all, just today & tomorrow at work, then we fly to the big mitten.

Spent most of Saturday at a birthday celebration with my son. First part was at Big Surf waterpark, second part at the birthday boy's house for lego building, dinner, etc.

Did ride the horse both days; neither one of us much motivated.

Took the truck for a drive out to the feed store yesterday.

Today, I need to clean up the backyard (hubby cleaned the house yesterday) to get ready for the house sitters, do laundry, and start packing!
