SUMMER CHAT 2014

We were at work at 7am today & will be at work again tomorrow at 7am. Got a couple of good helpers to clean up the tree nightmare. We loaded & stacked 2 cords of wood the original people cut but didn't get.
There is way more slash than I figured. So we came up with a plan. We have one big pile that I'm going to chip. Then we started several small piles & tomorrow we will start burning. I underestimated the amount of wood & slash. If we were to stack all the slash in one pile we would of had a pile at least 50-60 ft in diameter & easily 10 ft high.
So we will burn & continue to stack slash. Then we will be up next weekend to finish up.
But glad to have a couple of good hard workers a man & wife in their 40s. Both know how to work.

I haven't been to bed since 5:00 am Friday, worked Friday left for Grand Junction at 5:00 pm loaded 240 bales of hay and drove home, shredded 2 trailer tires, had to buy replacements on Moab Utah, broke a spring U bolt, found 4 in Moab. replace in the parts plus parking lot on hot asphalt. Just got home and am going to bed.

I have been camping in Strawberry at our family's ranch for the past week, it has been a lot of fun.... i really dont want to go home tomorrow, but the older 2 start school next week. It worked out pretty well, i hauled a friends toyhauler up here to camp in, and we brought up a friends 4 seater utv, it has been a lot of fun, but with the rain and mud it has been parked more then it has been driven. We visited the fish hatchery, natural bridge, and the kids went swimming in the East Verde, we also went to the fossil creek creamery and saw them milk the goats, we have had a blast this past week, and it has been so nice destressing from work, and it is much cooler then the valley.

my daughters horse gets too hot on alfalfa and the protein in alfalfa is too high for their kidneys, the only grass hay around here is Bermuda which is about 1 grade above wheat straw and is an invasive species so I won't buy it.
the hay I get is 50% timothy 30% orchard 20% rye. it sells down here for $18.00 to $20.00 per bale. I am the exclusive buyer from this grower so I get a good deal on it.

Makes sense.
I guess I was spoiled. we could buy great alfalfa, & timothy in Nevada. From Hawthorne we could travel to Yerington/Smith Valley, Fallon, Austin, & Schurz to get good quality feed. But prices have sure gone sky high in the last few years. We use to get 50# & 100# bags of onions, garlic, & red potatoes for cheap or free also. Vici had ties to people who grew Gilroy garlic, onions in Smith Valley/Coleville. I had a connection on potatoes in Middle Gate. But there isn't the ranching here like those areas either. Smith Valley raised a lot of the alfalfa for Bay Meadows Race track, along with some really good Timothy.

Man I am worn out fixing the gen, and working on the expedition is crazy.
On the gen had to replace
plugs
starter
fuel pump
air filter
fuel lines.
On the expedition:
fuel filter
spark plugs. I can't get number 8 out which is ticking me off big time. 4.6L has the worse plug design yet.
