03 Expedition A/C Question
I called the Attorney General's office and they had me send a letter (certified return receipt requested) to Ford. They said the information is in the book that comes with the vehicle, but since I haven't seen my vehicle for a month they gave me the address. Good Luck and keep us informed
We just had a new rear end assembally installed and i think that they put in the wrong ratio. The exp is really slow off the line and in the city the mileage is worse than before the change.
Does anyone know what B527E03246D402H equates to in ratio?
This is on a tag on the chunk and the first part of the code B527 is also stickered elsewhere on the rear-end chunk.
The dealer claims that Ford took this unit off the 04 line. Looking for other codes seems to be futile.
Thanks,
The real kicker is the elctronics issue. Driving down the highway, dark as heck, raining, pulling camper, two lane road and all of a sudden it was af I turned the key off. Except the Headlights stayed on and the engine kept going. Everything in the interior went off, DVD. radio, AC, gages swept back and forth, all the warning lights flashed off and on, for about 5 seconds.
Come to find out, they didn't properly shield the electronics, so Doppler radar from Military and weather radar can cause this problem. It also scrambled the Message display, they said I was the first case of it actually damaging that unit. They said that it was rare and would never happen again but they were working on a fix, 6 months later and it happened weekly and still does even after the fix as there is a GOV radar test site I drive by quite often.
I am starting the arbitration action, anyone want a nice 03 EXPY ?

Your A/C problems sounds more like the problem Ford claims to no about but can't fix. Mine is different than yours and what Ford says they know about. Mine does not stop blowing air, it just starts blowing warm air, the cyles back and starts blowing cold air.
I am done, mailed my paperwork certified with return received on October 15th the the Dispute Settlement Board.
Do keep us all posted on your claim as I will. I read on the internet that mine will be evaluated in Sacramento Calif. becuase I live in Northern Nevada. They meet on the third Tuesday of each month, so I am expecting that to be in November.
Meanwhile, am trying to put the issue out of my mind till I hear what they plan to do with my Expedition.
Good luck to you.
Reading the posts I found out I have the same problem as our friend "mechdeclined". I have that loud hissing noise coming from the vents in the passenger area. I did not take it to the dealer yet but I will soon. After reading all the posts I'm getting worried about the mayor investment I did in my SUV, looks like it's a nightmare for some expedition owners.
So far the two complains I have is the hissing noise and the brake dust problem at the front rims.
Good luck to everybody and continue with the postings.
P.S Any update about that hissing noise?????
hopefuly this will be fixable.

Think they now have a fix for the massive brake dust issue, TSB, new pads, they are out now or will be shortly. Ask your dealer !
Hopefully they will get the hissing resolved !
It's bothersome to have problems with a vehicle, but I have a great dealer and #1 service, but when you have problems and they have no fix or you have to wait 6 months for a fix, thats not right.
The Expy is a great road cruiser for long trips, my family loves it, just wish they would have had their act together better on the design and test end.

i am waiting for the next warm day here and i plan on going to another dealer and have there service dept listen to this hissing noise. More and more, I am coming to think that this is a vacuum issue of some kind. If you ride in the passenger side and really listen to the hissing, you will notice it is not coming out of the vents, but from behind the evaporator box. If there are other '03's on the lot, ride in those with the service mgr and prove to him that yours is much louder. Other than this issue, we really are happy, just wish we could get this resolved. Will let you know.
too early to hear from dispute board. Did call to see if they got my $8.00 certified packet of stuff, come to find out they have a new address, so that will take even longer for them to get it all. Made me mad, they have had this new address for over a year, but the phamplet with the form to fill out still has the Wisconsin addy. All internet searches that came up still show this addy. Typing is horribile just had surgery on my thumb this am, so having trouble typing.
I did send another packet to the new address yesterday so they won't say my first one never got to them. Just covering all bases. They have 40 days to make a decision.
Will keep posting any updates.
my file is at work, will post on monday, or there is a toll free number for the board, look up ford dispute settlement board on the net, in case you want to call earlier than I get to my office on monday. They do have a staff and they can check if you paperwork is received, probably answer questions, etc.
I know it is in Waukasha (slaughtered that one but you get the drift of the name of the city
You should be able to get the brochure right at your Ford dealer, it is my understanding they must have them available.
They ask what do you want. In my case I said a replacement vehicle, new with same features, want my extended warranty dates changed and my $2700.00, 20" tires and rims put on the new car. Was reminded by a friend to get a credit too on the tires that come with the new car. Had not thought about that.
I understand if agreed to in my favor Ford has 30 days in which to replace my car.
The board has 40 days to make a decision. I called today to see if they got my paperwork and they did. My case was accepted, a step is a positive direction I hope.
Was told they will send me a letter detailing what will go to the board in a week or so. The date of the hearing will be given in this letter. I am surewill not be close enough for me to attend, although one of the questions was do you want to speak at your hearing.
Hope this info helps.
