I just bought a 03 EB and I have the same problem on the AC. It cycles and the air gets warmer this happens after driving a while. I had a 98 and never had any problems. Other than the AC, the cruise not working, the rear window leaking I happy. I had a 98 put 115,000 on it and I'm hoping this one will be as good to me.
Are there any other common problems anyone is aware of??

Thanks everyone, am now getting a little nervous that this new valve won't fix the problem. In the repair order they stated that they bypassed is valve and the car ran cold the whole time. So, all I can say is will report back next Wednesday. I have been patient, and I am a woman so that is not easy......but when my patience runs out, watch out...

So if this is there twice, that is why.
Well, so much for that idea. Just trying to do some basic troubleshooting and hopefully remove one of the systems from the picture. But if it's the same for both systems, it shouldn't be that hard to find a common source of the problem. Crossing my fingers that my 03 does not develop the same problem.
Good luck to all.
Update: I picked up my expy after a week in the dealer and an extra 15 miles on it. ( I hope that was to diagnose the problem and not to pick up lunch). As for the A/C problem I think they may have fixed it. They replaced F3VY*12A647*A SNS. Seem to be working fine now. I will report after one month of use.
As for the rattle / squeak noise from the rear drivers side door, They replaced 2L1Z*78253A10*BE W/S (weather striping). NO MORE NOISE!!! Looks like they got this one.
They do not want to fix the groan in the front diff even though I showed them the TSB on the problem. They claim that the TSB does not apply to my vehicle because it was manufactured after (March 03) the problem was fixed on the assembly line. I now plan on calling Ford to find out if this is true.
Since we are all keeping one another updated, my update is zip right now. The part they need is on BACK ORDER. Makes me wonder if a lot of cars need this part and so the part is in demand. Just waiting Ford out. Been a week so far.
Will post when the car is done. Glad Njexpedition seems to have got his problems resolved.

I feel your pain, dude. My wife works at a Ford dealer, and I have butted heads with the service manager several times. It's amazing how I could know more about my vehicle then he can. Anyway, I they eventually do right by you, but with your luck, it will be Oct. before it is fixed, and then the heat won't work !!
The reason most of you are comparing a difference in performance to other older Expeditions is that they made major changes in the systems. For one, they went from a fixed orifice to an electronic thermostatic expansion valve, which has been problematic, thus the backorder situation. They also changed the compressor completely, and it is difficult to diagnose this compressor because it has an affinity to rapidly fluctuate high pressure, even when working fine. Also they added a dual zone heating/cooling system. Even if you dont have dual zone, it uses much of the same basic plenum system. All this has contributed to less than ideal performance compared to the simpler older systems. For the most part the problems have been resolved by replacing the thermostatic expansion block, and on some, the compressor.
Here is the latest good one from my junker. Went on a trip to the beach this past week. About a hour and a half drive over. Being that my air wasn't working worth a crap I was having to run my rear air alot. Guess it wasn't draining properly and when we arrived at the beach and got ready to go to dinner that night with some friends we lifted the rear seats only to find about 3-4 gallons worth of water between the middle and rear row of seats. I'm not kidding....so much water it would squish up between your toes if you were barefoot. Thank God my hearing is in two weeks.
