Happy day after humpeth day. LOL Hope everyone has a cool day. I will be staying indoors today. By Saturday they claim we will have 109 degree temps. That is too hot for me. Maybe I will move to Alaska when I get my money.
g'morning gents. what is going on with the clouds here today? Jim, if you move to AK, TAKE ME WITH YOU! of all the places i've been, alaska by far, is the best. it seems like i'm always on craigslist looking for retirement property. searching for homebuilding techniques, ways to live 'off-the-grid', and when i hear someone even mention the state, i chime right in with useless info...
man i miss it.
you guys have a good thirsty thursday! and while i'm at it, anybody got time for advice? do i spend money and get my truck up to speed (pass CA smog and registered) or do i spend money and get a daily driver? (smart car lease, cheap toyota pickup...)
what would you guys do?
My brother loves Alaska, and would be right at home living off the land. Me however, I need my internet. So I would be lost out there among the bears. Maybe I'll just move closer to Alaska and stop in Oregon somewhere. Or, my brother is currently renting a 2 bedroom apartment, and the second bedroom is not being used, so I could move in with him, especially since I will be financing his business. Of course, I would have to stop being the Nor Cal chapter leader, but we can always find some other sucker... I mean person to take the job.
As for your question, the bottom line is what do you want to do? It all depends on how much it would cost to get your truck running. I mean if you can get a daily driver for less than what it would cost to get the truck legal, then I would say daily driver. Of course, if you do decide on the truck option, don't forget it will not get the same gas mileage as a Toyota pickup. (Toyota? Really? Not a used Ranger? LOL) so you will need to consider that also.
Of course, logic sometimes goes out the window when making decisions like that. Logically, I should not spend 6 grand on a used Jaguar to be a daily driver, when I can find a Thunderbird here locally for $1,800. but my heart wants a Jaguar, and I can always buy the Thunderbird and flip it for a profit. So most likely, I'll do that. Still, that 6k spent on the Jag could be used to find three more cars under 2 grand to flip.
I have never been to Alaska, but I have seen a lot of pics of it, and my brother spent some time up there when in the army, and he loves it. I doubt I would move up there, but it does seem like an excellent idea when the temps here are over 100. Of course, if I were to move up there, I would be complaining about the below freezing temps in the winter time. LOL
Morn Gig Clint Jim Bd and all here
BD I would say get a dd so it saves wear an tear on Great White. I myself am driving one of my vans these days (2 Fords 01,05) so I keep outta my truck. A new Mustang will arrive shortly.
Jim, whats this business you are funding? Hope it works out well.
Fantasy NASCAR just like fantasy football and baseball I presume. Kool, never tried any of them, but sounds like it might be fun. I do not know what type of business my brother is going to do, all I know is he has been successful in the past, so I see no reason why he can't be successful now.
At the moment though, I have other problems to worry about. I have lost 90% of my hearing in the left ear over the past two weeks, and now the right ear is starting to lose hearing. I went to the VA hospital on Tuesday, but my Doctor could not find anything wrong, and wanted me to set up an appointment with the Audiology department. I could not do that though as they were closed Tuesday and Wednesday. I called to make an appointment yesterday and am told there is a 6 month wait. However, she did tell me that they just got funding to outsource to a private practice, but I am number 296 on the list. He also prescribed me another 90 days of Lisinopril for my high blood pressure as it is way too high. And he is still concerned about my high white blood cell count, so he had another lab done. If it is still high, he wants to schedule a bone marrow test. Lucky me.
