Tranny installation is completeand have been doing alittle more breakin on the engine. Turbo response is quick and consistant. Driving slowly and lugging engine in 3 rd gear will start to see boost when getting into it between 1500 and 1800 rpm. I still need to verify boost gauge for accuracy. I will be continuing to adjust and test as the motor gets broken in.
Have you set your timing with a light, or just winged it? I honestly was expecting a little better response out of it than that, as far as spooling low.
That is why I need to verify the boost gauge because it sounds like it is starting to spool sooner. but have to remember I am still just running a maxed out DB2 pump.

I checked boost gauge against an accurate pressure gauge today and it is reading just under 2 lbs low compared to actual readings.
I drove the truck around alot today and the turbo is spooling well and at expected rpms. Racins cam from my best feel for it starts letting the motor come to life just after 1600 rpms and before 1800 rpms. Also at that point the turbo wakes right up and winds up quickly. The turbo is reacting very well even at the fuel level of a maxed db2 and right inline with the way the cam affects the engine. When I get into it before 1500 rpms and ease into it so it doesnt down shift it will blow smoke till it hits just over 1600 rpms then the turbo cleans it right up. Going up thru the gears normally I get no major smoke at all. Cruising even under light load up hills egt temp runs about 550 to 600 deg max and really getting into it have only been able to get egts to get alittle over 800 deg. This is running empty.
It will be interesting to see how much fuel this set up can handle without egts getting out of control. The A3K in my opinion should have been an option for the idi all along for slightly modded setups, it really seems to work well so far.
I will be towing just under 400 miles in a couple weeks and am looking forward to seeing how it performs. In the mean time I am working at breaking it in and getting it fine tuned and ready for the trip.
Glad to see it is running well. That cam and turbo seem like they compliment each other extremely well. I look forward to seeing how it tows. Keep up the good work.
