I do hope you plan on a trip to the alignment rack before first drive.

i doubt if they'll align it without new kingpins, as they have just enough slack that the alignment rack can't get it any more accurate than my tape measure. i hope to get into those sometime this summer, along with a number of other projects
those michelins are really only costing me a few bucks more than the other tires i've had on there, seems any darn tire i buy runs 240 or so per tire out the door, so if michelins are gonna last twice as long for just a little more money, i call that a win!
as i've mentioned earlier, the rear tires wear a good bit quicker than the front ones, so while my alignment may not be perfect, its not that far off
but for the moment this other pair of 16.5s are holding up my front end without any funny business, they'll probably get me another month or two down the road, to about the time of year when i usually have to buy tires

Well at least it's looking slightly better. Where do you plan to get the tires from when you do buy new ones? If you run through Discount they might be able to offer a warranty of sorts that will make the next new set cheaper. Or it you're lucky they will blame it on a manufacture defect and replace them free.

i was talking to a guy at discount yesterday, and that was their price for them. i think thats probably who i'll go with, it sounds like they have a pretty solid warranty on them if anything goes funny, with an optional replacement plan for extra money that gives a totally free replacement for any premature failures, which i think adds like 120 to the cost of 4 tires but might be worth it for a man who has my luck with tires!

Rains back...

It's almost time for the camping trip, is everyone ready?? I still have to clean up the truck and get all the spiders out, then fill the tank and buy my supplies. I guess when we get to the park there we just say we are camping for 4 days or something and pay right?

Well I am grounded. EGR cooler is going out. Found a wet intake manifold
floor under the EGR valve and it Not Diesel or oil.
So I guess I'll be home under the hood. It's good I already have a replacement
cooler in hand. I will just need to get the gaskets that I will need to replace.
Well I was looking for a reason to install the new radiator hoses and that cooler.
Now it looks like I have a reason. The only real hard thing will be lifting the turbo.

Anywhere from a few hours to days depending on skills. So my
guess is about 6 Hours max. Unless I break something.
I also need to pick up some gaskets.

Well that's not bad. My guess it it would take a day because anything that takes a set time always gets dragged out longer because something broke or doesn't fit right....

when i did a delete kit on another guy's 6.0, it wasn't really the end of the world. the only bad part was the connections on the hot side of the turbo - the inlet pipe just wouldn't line up properly to it for anything. and being misaligned i could still assemble it, but it was leaking exhaust all over. also, be aware that the bolts on those hot-side clamps are more fragile than they look, and i had one sieze up and break off the second time around.
the other trouble i had with it was just getting to things without leaving wrinkles in the fenders cause they're so soft

Thanks for that info. Most of the 6.0 guys use a pull strap to help
to get the flanges into the right place. They also don't go over the
sides but come in from the front with a blanket or something so as not
scratch the front of the truck. The better way is a topside creeper.
Wished I had one.
