VW carbs are so easy..........
Yes rotors fail now and then. There is a resistor in the path if I recall right.
It can crack and cause problems. Also now that your running again reach under
the engine when running and see how much air is blowing out past the cylinders.
In the stock setup there is a thermostat that closes some louvers at the bottom of
the fan housing. If the spring is broken or the linkage stuck you could not be getting
the needed air flow past the cylinders. Also sometimes you can get crap into the fan
and plug up airflow. The ignition coil can be effected by heat if it getting weak. When
you change the plugs make sure to use anti-size on them or you will be helicoiling the
head the time after that.
I used plenty of antisieze when I changed the plugs. Almost forgot but I got em. As for the air, there seemed to be quite a bit when we revved the engine. We could feel it on our legs and it was blowing some grass around that was embedded in the gravel. It seems to be running differently now though, before it had a vibration that I could barely feel, now even though the engine seems to shake a little at idle it feels real smooth. Kind of eery. But We will see what it does later. I am going to drive it to autozone to talk to the manager again. they just had an employee walk out on them and are in need of someone. Now's my chance.
