well i don't have one of those, i just have one of the steps that goes over the wheel. from there, its a little too easy to mess with the fender in a bad way
I use neither, I happen to have a huge engine bay that I can amble into and sit on the radiator while having my feet on the frame/steering box.
That's the beauty of the old trucks. Like Dylan, I've sat on the radiator with my legs on either frame rail many a time. Still doesn't prevent me from loosing sockets, ratchets and bolts under the runners of the intake
Dropping tools is my specialty. Or I have a habit of putting a tool somewhere and forgetting about it, then test driving with it there still. I've left wrenches on the fenders, intake, all over. Then you get home and realize.. "s***" I forgot about those!"
I've lost a couple sockets because our driveway is a slope. They fall and then roll away
In between homework sessions, I've been trying to decide on a bug. I came across a project baja that has everything needed to put it back together, just needs to be done. If I buy it I'd try and get everything cranked out by the end of summer.
Things I'd have to do
-Get it started. Ran before it went into the shop for baja-ing
-Strip and sandblast the interior (not critical to blast, just makes it clean)
-Paint the interior
-Install full array of digital gauges
-Install seats, carpet, trim panels (all of which are brushed aluminum), and headliner
-Install and wire headlights
-Finish up wiring
-Fix one spot of rust on the outside
-Attach cowling and visor
-Send it in for paint
-Install powdercoated front bumper/rear cage
-Install brand new trim and gaskets
Everything listed is included. My only forseeable costs are the sand and gas for blasting, primer, paint, rubberized undercoating for the floor, and misc other pieces that would be required for proper finishing.
Well there's that. Back to homework

Reason: s'ed it up
If your putting on fiberglass fenders look and see if you can get extra
pan to body clips. They really help reinforce when you install the fenders
so that you don't break the fiberglass of have to use ugly fender washers.
Hmm fiberglass... I guess that's ok for a baja, I'll allow it you mught also want to really check out the floors. Slightest hint of rust and you'd want to replace it. Either a patch weld or new pans. I plan to replace my pans because it appears they have been replaced with fiberglass which I don't particularly trust. I'd like metal floors with thick undercoating on both sides.
Anyways, good luck in your search and hopefully you get one soon.

My dad went and looked at it the other day. He said the pans are really solid, and this guy has a ton of parts for it. Don't know if I mentioned it in the last post, but he has a full array of digital gauges, aluminum trim pieces for interior, new gaskets all the way around, etc. He's got a lot of stuff. So I'm going to check it out Friday because I have a half day at school.
