Yeah I am mister, and I think I misworded that haha.
And for the BPD oil cooler, that's out of the question. 1500 bucks on top of all the other stuff and labor is out of the question.
Now on the turbo oil feed line, I read on some you have to replace the oil cooler plate or something for it to work, would that be the case for an 05? Thought that was more for 2003-2004?
Have you verified that yours is the braided steel feed line? If other work was done to your truck prior to you owning it, it could already be updated. I personally am not updating my return line, don't see any value there. I have hard lines on both sides of the turbo and there are much worse demons to go after deeper down.

The oil feed line was different for the early 03 trucks. You don't have to replace the oil cooler plate for your truck.
I still havn't got a chance to look at the feed line, hopefully I'll be able to get to that soon. So let's say my oil cooler is good right now, what are the chances of it clogging up after flushing the cooling system out?
Just to update, I did check the turbo oil feed lined, and it is the braided one. Being that the actual line isn't that much, I'll just go ahead and replace it since I don't need the oil cooler plate.

50/50 chance it could go either way

Im thinking its just the Really early trucks that need to worrey about this
The very first ones Built Before 3/17/2003 had the Snap to Connect Turbo oil feed line These ones need the Oil Cooler Plate and new Line
Im thinking all these afftermarket parts companys have ran with it and have folks beleiving the OEM Line is prone to fail No matter the Year
For the Record I havent seen 1 Turbo oil line fail yet Maybe Mike or Cheezit has IDK
Ehh, I may or may not replace it. Can get both the drain and feed tubes for 100 at Tousley, not top of the list.
Right now I'm mainly concerned on doing the coolant flush properly, using the right chemicals to flush, when do to the flush, what kind of coolant to use, etc etc so I don't clog up a new oil cooler if I go ahead and replace it. I've been reading so many different threads, and other online places. There's just so much information to take in its kind of hard to decipher what should be done, haha.
Thanks for the video too, ill check that out after work. Actually seeing just always helps me to understand better haha.
That helps out a ton. I remember seeing this now in the tech folder a while back ago. I'm wondering if I should even bother with doing the reverse flush, as I have a lot of gunk/maybe oil? in the bottom of my degas bottle. Which I think means the oil cooler is possibly leaking oil in which case the oil cooler HAS to be replaced right? Or is oil in degas bottle not a symptom of the oil cooler leaking? I swear I read that somewhere haha.
I'm also considering doing a coolant filter setup, since they're not too expensive and this might as well be the time to do it because I don't plan on doing much motor work until I get into diesel mechanic school, then I plan on doing studs and some aftermarket injectors, but that's gonna be a while from now.
Should a coolant filter be installed a few hundred miles before the flush/replacement of oil cooler to filter out crap, or should it just be done after the final drain before adding coolant?
Still not sure what coolant I'll go with. There's tons and tons of OTR truck shops here in town, so hopefully whatever I go with will be readily available. I'm thinking about getting some coolant from Caterpillar, since we have a dealer in town as well. Still gonna do some research on the OAT coolant before I decide, not even sure what that stands for haha.
Just curious, since the turbo is coming out would it be worth it to get the turbo reinstall kit from tousley? It's just new bolts, clips, and some gaskets for 8 bucks, or is that not really necessary?
