I see you have an '05 now that I finished the post. The problematic line has steel brading -- look to see if yours has been changed. On the degas cap I watched a vid on Youtube and went out and checked mine -- the underside of the cap is where the spring is and mine was obviously the small one, though it was holding pressure after days of not running, but for 5 bux? The VC-9 for the coolant flush is almost $30 and the new OAT coolant was over a bill. That's just peanuts.

Yeah, get to know Riffraff and Tousley. I spoke at length to the parts guy at Tousley, they know their sh_t and are extremely helpful. Oil cooler there was a good price but I ended up with a factory sealed one off ebay for a tad over 200.

You're doing an EGR delete but I went HD cooler instead (Kalifornia). Best deal was a BD Diesel Performance unit from Xtreme Diesel using the 10% discount code DIESEL10. It's $224 to my door...

Shop til you drop!

Hell, I'm really glad I posted that link before I bought that, or I'd be really pissed. Even through RiffRaff, it all turned out to be like 270 bucks, without the STC fitting for the HPOP because they don't sell it. I always have a hell of a time loading tousley's part department site, and when it does I have a hard time finding stuff that I'm looking for. Maybe I'll just give them a call and see if they can price me for the stuff I'm looking for since you say they know their stuff.

Now let me get this straight, because I don't even know what they are in the first place, the stand pipes and dummy plugs, I need 2 of each correct?
Yeah being that the cap is 5 bucks I'll just order a new one haha, I'm going to get a new degas bottle as well because mine looks like **** has been sitting in it for years. I see the blue spring from RiffRaf is like 80 bucks with the cover, and 40 without. Is there a way to tell if the cover is cracked without tearing the motor apart? I have no idea where it's located haha.

We can get you part numbers for almost everything you need (makes Tousley shopping easy). Calling Tousley works well too.

Do a search for the blue spring install - several posts with pics and everything. I will say though - if you do not have a duel leak and you are reasonably careful with the work, most people do NOT need the cover.

EGR Delete

Is there a delete out there that just lets you stop actuating the EGR Valve, but the EGR connector still feeds back it is moving the valve?

Just leave the EGR valve in the intake when you delete the EGR cooler.

egr delete

I guess I'm asking if they make a kit at the valve instead. It would be a lot easier and total time would be a ten minute delete.

Hell yeah, that'll make things a lot easier. Thanks a ton. Should I go ahead and replace the degas bottle hose's as well?
I'll probably end up getting the turbo feed and drain tube anyways, if they're not too expensive. As far as the blue spring, I'll just take my chances and get it without the cover, worse comes to worse I'll just order the cover if it's bad.

Take the time to give Mark some rep points -- I would but he's still on my "need to spread the good" list.

I ended up calling Tousley because even with part numbers I couldn't get some and then there were some very interesting names for parts (like the Dummy Plug/Stand Pipe kit is called something or other fuel tube. Just ask for internet sales and they can do it all over the phone at the same price they have on the internet.

On the Blue Spring: I think we missed giving you an answer to your Q; you know where your engine mounted fuel filter is? If not it's in front of the oil filter canister -- anyway on the front of the fuel filter is the cover you remove to install the Blue Spring. Take a look at the cover and below it and see if there's any wetness that is diesel fuel. You can check Tousley's price, but I think Riffraff was the best total deal when I was shopping -- plus they're also good peeps...

You do know that all these parts your getting take some time/skill to install, right? With coolant flush somebody that knows what they are doing is in the 16-20 hr range. I also opted for new valve cover gaskets since those have to come off to get to the dummy plugs/stand pipes (the valve covers). They are a reusable gasket but I've had a leak there before and want it that way after (no leaks)...

I definitely will when I get done with work, later tonight. Chances are I'll probably just order over the phone. And yeah, I change my oil and fuel filters myself so now that I know where the covers at I'll take a look at it. If the cover is dry, I should be okay on the cover correct?

And yeah, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet as far as the install. Might end up having someone do it so I don't mess anything up.

It doesn't address the issues coming from a failed EGR cooler pushing out coolant, it has to go somewhere, either into the intake or into the exhaust. IPR makes an EGR valve plug, you could do that and leave the valve plugged in and sitting in the valley, but when the cooler fails you'll be blowing burning coolant out the pipe and doing the rest of the EGR delete anyways.

Most likely they don't seem to just break for no reason. You can run a paper towel around the bottom and see if you get anything, but it also could be the gasket leaking -- I'd say upwards of 99% of the folks that do this don't need a cover (at least starting the job ). Just follow the directions in the tech folder and break the fuel line loose with TWO wrenches. Now me, since I always find the hardest way to do everything, instead of pulling the fuel line I took the bolt out of the clamp that holds the hard fuel lines to the head (a real b_tch to do, but it worked and no broken cover or leaks after...

I'm taking the route of having someone else do it: bad back in two places and probably lacking some tools, plus after watching some of the You Tube vids on the job(s), there definitely are some tricks, and lots of stuff coming off that needs to back on in the right order. I spent some time asking for shop referrals and then interviewing the shops before I chose the one I'll use. Most parts are in and Dan-the-man goes under the knife 5/13...

I installed the Bullet Proof Diesel Oil System and EGR cooelr a few months back. At that time, I wasn't sure if I should delete it or not. I thought I may tune it out later and if I ever had to undo it for emissions or whatever reason, it would be easier. I haven't done the tuner yet, but was curious since I have the BPD EGR cooler, if there was a cleaner EGR valve delete then just a cover and leaving valve in the valley.

As far as I understand, all these updated parts should be able to be replaced while I'm doing the delete and possibly the oil cooler, like I won't have to go in the motor any deeper than that to replace this stuff right?

Still not sure if the cooler needs to be done or not, I'm off Friday so I plan on trying to figure that out then. Still searching around for the best price on a cooler though just in case. On Tousley I can't seem to find the cooler there, when you type in oil cooler it just comes up with the gaskets, and a trans cooler. I typed the part number for the oil cooler in and it came up with something for 277, trying to find it in the search without using the part number to see if it comes with gaskets or not. Might just be something I have to call on.

Tousley's sight is jacked up on the oil cooler (among other stuff). You can find it if you search for a cooler for a 2007 E350 (van) if I remember correctly. I suggest giving them a call. They can hook you up quick on the phone-nice folks. It ships (free) with a gasket set.
