I am having issues similar to what I had before with my injectors... Stuttering, jerking, missing, hiccuping... I have just under 130000 miles on my truck and ford installed 2 injectors about 6 months ago... And it was awesome for about 10k now the same again... Are MC injectors the best option on the market or are there some better ones... I have had multiple issues with this truck in the 19k miles I've owned it and can't afford this forever but don't want to give up on it either... Appreciate the input guys!
I understand there's a lot of reasons that go into why something happens to one truck and not another ... so with that being said I have 273,000 miles on all 8 original ford injectors. I'd call that pretty bulletproof.
I bought it in 2007 with 100,000 miles.
I haven't done any of them in the 173k I've owned her. They weren't on the oasis report and the other records I got with it suggest they weren't done.
I've had the top opened twice for head gaskets and a HPOP since then. All same injectors went back in.
I have a guy at work has 170k on his and hasn't done anything to it... Just brakes... He bought it new in 05... Mine was owned by a company prior to me having it.. I wonder if they blew off the highly important maintenance for it
Maybe a silly question but have you installed the Blue Spring kit and checked the fuel pressure?
Low pressure will take out injectors. Dirty filters will also lower the pressure.
IMO people using 15W40 oil are far more likely to develop stiction issues than folks that use 5W40 or 10W30 oil. 15W40 should not be used in the winter - Ford says not below 20 degrees (some argue the number is 30 degrees).
The engineer I spoke with at Ford head office told me 50 degrees cold soak temp for switching to 5W-40, so that's what I do, FWIW. Helps to have a sister at Ford who can hook you up with the right guy at the right time... Losing injectors can very often be fuel pressure related, I lost three in 200 miles when my fuel pressure dropped to 40 psi under full load. If you don't have the blue spring and a verified 50 psi plus at full load, then fix that issue and change the injectors.
MC5C thanks! Good info. I did the blue spring about 8 months ago.... I went to 5w40 a couple changes back with no obvious benifit... I also tries the hot shot secret additive. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge so shame on me there... Why are these injectors so finicky with al this.. Why would they stop working? Just strictly lubrication factors?
One end screws into a port right where you did the blue spring. The other end is where you attach your fuel pressure sensor. Then from the sensor you can clip in the harness or pigtail from what ever gauge/sensor setup you bought and run it to the gauge in the cab.
You can run the wiring to a typical stand alone 2-1/16" round gauge, or to an accessory attachment on the Edge CS or CTS if you already own one.
I think there's other electronic gauges that will take an external sensor and display it on their screen. Others will let you know I'm sure.
