Today i went thru a couple mud trails and got pretty deep. But shes faithful and we go ***** to the wall when need be. Didnt get stuck once!
Of course theres always aprice to pay.
So I pull into the drive way when we get home and my brakes go out; Pedel went to the floor. I tried to figure out what it was and by the looks of the passenger tire being soaked, a bad caliper. Which sucks because i JUST bought calipers for my D60 axle, but i dont have all the parts for a SAS yet =(
Next is the what im confused on.
As im looking for leaks in the brake lines i notice this and a small (2in diameter) puddle under it. This is the pitman arm. Im assuming that gap between pitman arm and the steering box isnt a good thing....?
I never noticed before. Does this mean i need a new steering box? I mean like i said i never noticed while driving any difference.
Does it mean i can press in a new seal or do i need a whole new steering box? I wonder if the one off tthe F350 would be the same ...hmmmmm ill have to look into it

You'll need to-
Remove the Steering Shaft from the upper portion of the steering box.
Remove the 2 PowerSteering Hoses from the Steering Box.
Remove the Steering End link that connects to the Pitman Arm
Remove the actual Steering Box from the frame
Use a Pitman Arm Puller to remove the Pitman Arm
Undo the bolts, snap rings (Total PITA), etc and replace the blow seal.
Then put everything back on in reverse order.
The actual Lower Steering Box Seal kit is like $7-8...
If I remember correctly on the tools/sizes-
Steering shaft uses a 6pt, 13mm socket.
The High Pressure Power Steering Hose uses a 1/2" Line Wrench
The Low Pressure Power Steering Hose uses a 5/8"? Line Wrench
The Castle Nut that holds the Tie Rod/Drag Link on is a 11/16"? Socket
I just replaced the entire font steering components on my dads 1992 F-150 the other day....And have forgotten a lot of the sizes..:/
Total time replacing that seal should be around 1.5-2 hrs..Ish..lol
I want mine as bright as I can get, in fact I'm looking for some really bright LED's. I wish someone made a complete replacement LED tail-light for our trucks! I want that person behind me that's driving a guided missile and playing on their cell phone to notice me, especially when they've been drinking or getting high,eh. I gues I learned a few things when driving big trucks cross-country.
