And when he's wheeling it hard, and breaks an axle shaft, and breaks bones from the wheel snapping back, don't say I didn't warn you about it. Another user on this site, 77mud if I remember correctly, had that happen to him and now keeps his front end open because of it.

You're right, it won't lock the wheels together. But, do you want your steer wheels locked together? When the truck turns, the outside tire spins more, you don't want to use 4x4 on anything that you actually get traction on then because your truck is going to hop around and break parts.

You can tell me I'm wrong, but I am NOT arguing the effectiveness of traction that you will get with a locker. I'm arguing the practicality of it as well as the safety aspect.

You are confusing a spool with a mechanical locker a spool truly locks your wheels together while a mechanical locker will allow the wheels to rotate at different speeds when there is no power going through the drive line. The reason that mechanical lockers cause weird handling is at first they are locked causing understeer then they unlock suddenly and cause snap oversteer.

I still wouldn't run that in the front. I would still run a L/S unit. I still find it very useless to run a spool or locker in the front end because turning on any ground that you have any sort of traction will cause your truck to jump around.

Gnr, a locker will only have an effect if the truck is in 4wd, otherwise the hubs will turn alone, so, actually, a mechanical locker makes quite a lot of sense in the front axle. Air and electrical lockers work great for the rear.

Update- Receiver hitch

Hey guys, so today i put on the receiver hitch that was on the '350 and threw it on mine. Had to take the ball off to work, and took some good ole' fashion muscle to get er done. heres some pics

Used some nice Grade 8 bolts, (have to get a couple more, i was short some)

So now, when i swap my axles out- i can tow a lottt more. I also going to box in some parts of the frame and make more crossmembers. I know ill never beable to make a 150 frame into a 350, but i can try!

I couldnt get third bolt drilled/in, the one farthest to the cab. so am going weld the brackets to the frame as well for added support. Ill try to get some more pics of what i mean in a lil bit
