That does not work for 1955. It does work for 1969.

What engine is in it? A Y-block V8?

Welcome to FTE!

N75 = LN750

E = 361 2V FT gas V8

V = Kentucky Truck Plant

J43722 = 1970 numerical series, June 1970 production

If you have a picture of the warranty plate we can find the axle and transmission codes along with some other info.

Welcome to FTE!

VIN doesn't say much but here's what it will tell you:

N70 = LN700 gas

E = 361 2V FT gas V8

V = Kentucky Truck Plant

K31323 = 1971 numerical series, October 1970 production

Welcome to FTE!

F61CEB42618

F61 = F600 gas, 4x2

C = 330 2V MD FT gas V8 (Medium Duty = FE cast crank, FE oil pump/distributor drive/possibly FE water pump, different flywheel than other FT engines)

E = Mahwah Assembly Plant

B42618 = 1967 numerical series, June 1967 production. (This number is also part of the 1976 numerical series. However, by '76 only the Kentucky Truck Plant (code V) or Ontario (Code C) would show)

If you still have the original warranty plate on the driver door, that info can be decoded as well.

1977 fire truck

Can you please decode the VIN for a 1977 Fire Truck C91LV065133? Reading here, it looks like gas V8, title has diesel listed.

C91 L V O65133
C91 = for '75-on: C900--gas
L = well, you have your choice of three diesel and one gas engine . . . but, because "C91" is explicitly a gas model designation, you're left with the Superduty 534 / 8.8l V8.
V = Kentucky truck plant
O65133 = 1977 numerical series, Nov1976 production

Most VIN checkers won't work with anything before 1981, when VIN format became standardized in the US, and use 17 characters.
