All kidding aside, someday you'll look back on your Air Force days as the best days of your life!
Congratulations on making a great career move.

The USAF offers me many benefits to joining. They will train me, and certify me in FireFighter I, FireFighter II, HAZMAT Technician, and Airport FireFighter, all of which are nationally recognized certifications for civilian Fire Depts. On top of that they will give me a degree in Fire Science upon the completion of my service. They dont run many fire calls because the USAF has one of the best fire prevention programs out there, which is often an over looked and forgotten aspect of every fire dept. They do run medical aids just like any fire dept, and most USAF Firefighters are only trained in basic first aid and CPR with a few being certified EMTs. Me already being an EMT I should be seen an asset to the USAF.
Well I'm still out in your neck of the woods until Thursday of this week...
The good news is Friday we leave on our near 3 week long 4000 mile RV trip...
We're going to pass through and visit Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota before heading home!!!...WOOHOO!!!
Have a great one everybody!
Joe
Lots of stuff to see for the girls.
Mall of America in Minneapolis/St. Paul
Teddy Roosevelt NP in ND
Glacier in MT
Yellowstone and Devils Tower in WY (maybe Thermopolis as a stop with their hot springs)
Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Iron Mt. Rd, Jewel Cave, Wind Cave NP, Badlands, Wall Drug all in SD...
I think we've got a pretty memorable trip planned!
Lots to do and I'm hopeful to meet up with some FTE'rs along the way...
A MT member (sailor_roy) and an OH member (ExxWhy) in Yellowstone as well as two SD members in Hill City SD (RushmoreX and Cowboywanabe)...
Should be a neat trip for sure!
My girls after this trip at 13 and 15 will cross 40 states visited already!!!...
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Well today is my last full day here before heading home tomorrow and getting the camper for our 3 week RV trek!...REALLY looking forward to it for sure!
Hope everyone has a wonderful hump day!
Joe

Those forty states seen by your kids is a VERY-important part of their upbringing, and a real tribute to you and your wife's efforts in that department. Kudos to you and the missus!
The kids probably don't think much about it now, but as they grow older they'll see how important it was to put "boots on the ground" across this country. Hopefully, they'll pass the tradition on to their kids, too. Maybe you'll get to be part of that generation's travels, too.
Again, kudos to you and yours.

Ahhh...the venerable corn palace...We read sign after sign for that and Wall Drug as we drove across SD in '06...we may just have to stop this time!
One thing I WILL stop for this time is to take a picture of the never ending SUNFLOWER FIELDS!...I'm used to corn and bean and wheat fields...never saw sunflower fields for as far as the eye can see!...I regret not taking a picture back in '06...I plan to get one this time!
Thank you for the very kind words...I'm hopeful that my girls take on this tradition and share it with their family when they have one of their own...and I'm also hopeful that I'm still around to be a part of it if I can!
What's neat for me is to hear my girls talk about school when they are in geography or history and the teachers are teaching them about some place that they have personally visited...like a Civil War battlefield or Jamestown or when we're watching a National Parks show on the travel channel and I can see them clicking off "Been There"..."Been There"..."Been There"...pretty neat feeling as a dad that helped them "Been There"...
There are the obvious times that they are teenagers and "complain" about the drive...but they also chat in the truck about..."do you remember that time we were in ______"...I just grin on the inside...
I'm really looking forward to seeing Glacier NP...that one's been on our list for a while...and the glaciers won't be there for much longer from what I'm reading...so this one is important for me to take the girls too...
Thanks again for the nice message!
I'll try and post some pictures in my Indiana BS chapter as we're traveling...now FTE fixed the interface with my webshots page so I can once again post pictures!

German town designates tricky parking 'men only' - Yahoo! News
Seems to me like the town was just trying to save women from embarrassing situations, but that's just my take on it.
Some of the remarks under the story are pretty good.
