yes, that is a muffler under there. once i stop the firewall from rubbing and put some miles on it, it will get straight piped, thus eliminating that mess of clamps behind the muffler.
i had to cut some of the "down slope" off of the over the axle piece to get the tail pipe right were i wanted it.
yeah, big hammer and pipe.remember when your doing it,she wont be rolling over the undercarriage cam of Barret Jackson anytime soon.so get mid evil on it.
oh,that's why she's got no whistle.your running a full length pipe with muffler.i lost all mine with this setup too.
it's ok though really,as that whistle got old pretty much inside the week or so i ran her off the DP only.
i dunno about your turbo, but the banks was like an airliner just off idle.wouldn't want to live with that for a month or so.probably drive ya mad lol.the rattling diesels' enough as is.

i have heard vids of guys with the same turbo and they had awesome whistle all the way back at the tail pipe.
finally got enough clearance for the dp. i had to dent the dp some more. just need to get the tail pipe to clear the rear fuel tank strap and then test drive again. kinda worried as to how loud the turbo screeching is going to be.
does it sound rough at higher boost numbers? when your letting off the throttle after getting into it? are you sure your waste-gate is set right and not opening and closing making it sound like some flutter? video would be great

hmmmmmm, the WG didn't even occur to me. when i drilled those dimples out i tried to get it back to "stock" as close as possible. i have actually never heard what a WG sounds like when it opens. what does it sound like? the highest boost i got was ~6psi. then the noise and i let off the skinny pedal. i will hook my shop air to the WG and see when it opens.
i will try to get a vid once i can actually hear something other than the firewall hitting the dp, which i am sure i solved now.
To fit my dp I ended up taking some leftover DOM tubing and a floor jack and dented the s*** out of the cab...worked good after cutting part of seam off that I originally did.
So the sound only starts at 6psi, and thats the highest boost you see? Im not seeing how a wastegate is going to make noise... Bark sounds like a really fast "choo-choo-choo-choo" or "fluttering" rev it to about 2k, floor it real fast and let off and shut it off when you let off and that will make it do it, or should... albeit not really advisable.
i no longer have any drone/vibration. tomorrow i will tack weld the tip on the exhaust so it doesn't fall off and so it is harder for somebody to steel. that scary screeching noise is gone as well. must have been related to the dp hitting the firewall.
still don't have ANY whistle though. kinda mystified by that one. there aren't two different directions that the muffler could go in is there? i didn't see any arrows or anything.
i wanna get in on some of this $3.65/gal diesel around here. diesel is less than regular gas.
