well................

the exhaust exit turned out good. i am happy with the look and routing. the over the axle piece does rub on one of the fuel tank straps. i will look into that.

exhaust sounds pretty mean at idle. nice DEEP tone. i was REALLY disappointed in the fact that i had ZERO whistle out the tailpipe at idle or even above idle. the ONLY time i got hot side whistle was when you rev it up then let off the throttle, but even then it was minimal. also did not hear any cold side whistle but it could be b/c the down pipe.

Two issues though. Down pipe & turbo. the down pipe sounds like it is having sex with the firewall. i know how to fix that......clearance the firewall more. The "drone"/vibration while driving was TERRIBLE. anything over idle the whole cab vibrates and there is a drone. so DP is an "easy" fix. to give you an idea of how bad the drone was.....i had the engine reving out to around 3200rpm while driving and COULD NOT hear the exhaust at all.

the turbo: when i got on the throttle hard from a stop and the trans shifted around 3k rpm, you could hear the turbo down spool. nothing wrong with that except it is making a horrific screeching noise when down spooling. it only does it when it down spools though. it is definitely not a whistle noise either.

good news: boost still maxed out around 5-6 psi, but came on faster and easier. much less throttle input needed to reach those numbers. need to fix my up-pipe leak, turn up fuel, & adjust WG. i am making 1psi cruising around 1800-2000rpm.

i also have ZERO oil leaks around the turbo.

i think i covered everything.

I know this, screeching + turbo = bad m'kay... is it barking when it upshifts? If the DP is touching the firewall there will be some pretty insane resonation goin on inside the cab... ask me how i know.

i have heard of turbo bark talked about but have never actually heard it in person so i don't know it that is what i am experiencing. the engine will be revving out, trans up shifts, then as soon as the rpm's drop down the "turbo noise" shows up. it only does this if you stay on the throttle during the shift. it did it twice and i then i took it easy. there is no "fluttering sound either", just a really bad screech, i guess you could say it sounds kind of like a really bad wheel bearing. this ONLY happens on high rpm up-shifts.

monday morning i will take my intake off and look at the cold side of the turbo.

lol

oddly though, the vibe/drone got worse as the engine warmed up. right before i shut it down it was starting to drone/vibe at idle.

Honestly, i don't know.

would the converter make a noise even during the 1-2 up-shift?

that wheel is a lot louder under load than a stocker. just keep that in mind.

also ,did you make sure the drive side pipes and castings were free of loose material.

so is does you'rs make a screeching noise? once i get my dp clearance i will be able to hear better.

yes, on the drive pipes. i stuck a clean rag into the "y" collector side of the up-pipe while the turbo was off so nothing could get in there.

yes on the rag LOL. i even mentioned that to my dad and friend when we did the install last Monday.

ok. i will update on the turbo noise once i get more clearance with the DP. it was a little alarming to say the least lol. with the old set-up you wouldn't even know there was a turbo under the hood.

Mine is real loud at about 3-5 psi. guessing its just the design of the wheel. unhook and plug the wg line and put a couple black tarp straps to the alt bracket to quick adj the wg.
