tomorrow will be the maiden voyage. i need to straight pipe the exhaust sometime though. this thing is dead quiet. i am going to play with the waste gate before school tomorrow.
today was the first drive in the truck. pretty good. engine pulls harder at 2500+ rpm than it did before. under 2500rpm it is the same as with the old turbo and exhaust. boost maxed out at 7psi.
pretty disappointed in one thing though............my truck sounds like a gasser at anything over idle. the exhaust note is a VERY smooth sound. i guess my turbo is just not going to be a whistler either, truly saddened by that.
i adjusted the wg this morning. didn't do anything. i need to turn up my fuel sometime.
well i have been driving my truck for that last few days. everything is working good. need to fix the exhaust leaks. they sound HORRIBLE. i have been paying more attention to the pyro. moderate to aggressive acceleration i am getting 5psi before 2500 rpm & ~650-700 egt. cruising on flat ground unloaded at 55mph in o/d i am getting ~350 egt.
i have noticed that when i really hammer on the throttle and "max" my boost out it will fluctuate about 2 psi. ie. when it gets to 8psi, it will drop down to ~6, then fluctuate between 6 and 8?
your gunna regret that.even if it's very high temp paint, it's going to stink forever and a day lol.
i know cus i used it.nasty stuff until it probably all just burnt away under the wrap haha.
get some header wrap and wrap 'em right up tight.get ya some crazy fast spool up and whistle going on.
i don't like the idea of wrapping the pipes and then have them rot out or crack. and it's also not worth the time and effort IMHO. gotta remember we are only working with like 10psi here.
