We drove up through Canada 800 miles last year & back across - wasn't too bad. Just questions about firearms by the Canadians - due to our Texas plates I'm sure. We looked very unterrorist like to the U.S. guys coming back.

Have a good trip.

Rifles and shotguns are OK. Pistols are not. Be polite and don't act nervous.

Once I cross the border, it may be a few days before I post again unless I camp where there is wifi. I can't afford the cell roaming charges and have heard there is little coverage anyway. I'll make sure to check in once I get into Alaska

BACAGrizz is right. From what I've read, you can apply for a gun registration and a transport license at the border to carry a long gun on into Alaska. There's a fee. But a person would probably get thrown under the jail if they got caught with a regular pistol in Canada. You can apply for a license to possess the "prohibited" gun while in Canada, but you have to apply for the license months in advance.

Oye, been a bit busy to find time to jump on FTE... time to play catchup!

Pulled it again yesterday and quickly found the shift problem, some idiot missed punching one hole in the gasket (me) took care of that and will pick up the needed o-ring to fix the leak this morning. EDIT: There were 2 idiots present. We both stared right at that stupid gasket and didn't even notice it.

Thanks, but just one car guy helpin out another. I just hope that if'n I ever get in that situation myself someday, the favor will be returned. We're all brothers (and sisters, for the ladies out there) in an odd sorta way, and we need to help one-another out from time to time. That's what makes this hobby/family so great. The best reward was meeting Jeff in person.

It was actually an honor to meet Jeff in person, he is without a doubt one of the nicest and friendliest guys you'll ever meet. He's quite the talker too, which can be dangerous as I'm a 'chatty cathy' myself. Needless to say, we 'shot the bull' so much, there was more led on the ground than animal. We talked about anything and everything and there is not too many people that you can do that with or whom do so much anymore these days. I was hoping to take our trucks out for some cruising/sightseeing, but it just wasn't in the cards. The stories of all the runs he'd been on and shows he'd been to, stuff he'd done, etc. while wrenchin on his truck, more than made up for it. I know his stay was a bit longer then he really anticipated, but I'm glad we were able to meet and get him back out on the road in good working order.

Now I did take some pics while he was here of the repairs and of his truck in general, and I'll try to get them posted up here soon. Need to download them and all that. So I'll add them to this thread tonight or tomorrow night hopefully.

Oh and Jeff- be glad you hit the road when you did as since you left it's been raining like a cow pi$$in on a flat rock! Hopefully you didn't catch too much of Washington's 'liquid sunshine' the rest of the way up. Be safe, buddy!

Hey Dan, yes I have been running in rain just about full time since I left your place, sitting here in Quesnel bc waiting for the rain to stop so I can cook a bite of supper.
As for trouble crossing the border, if it was any easier, they would have just waved me through

Actually the plan is to re-enter the states in Montana, and pass through Yellowstone. But as with all of this trip, plans are made to be broken
