Watch out for them dam things especially at night. They camouflage into the dark really good and if you do manage to live you probably won't be walking away from it on your own power. Just remember that their belly is the perfect height for your windshield and a 1000 lb moose don't make a good lap dog.

Not too much to worry about at night, I usually find a place to hunker down before nightfall. Used to be when I wanted to travel, but the ol eyes ain't what they used to be
Thats ok. Bear are pretty solid too. Me and the wife spudded one in the but that jumped out in front of us in Jasper a few years back. Problem was we were on the bike when we did it. Thank god he was only a little guy about 2' tall and we didn't go all the way down in a pile with him but things sure were exciting for a bit with him balling, the old lady screaming and me hollering and trying not to land on it. I swear it lifted the back wheel off the ground when we bumped it. Tough little thing.
Jeff, we're glad you got the truck fixed and glad your enjoying your trip, by the way we love the pics. Stay safe till we see you again, Garry and Courtney.
Jeff is just down the road from me. I will meet up with him in a couple hours. Than bring him home for maybe a shower and to do some laundry. Than we will be going exploring. He said he would be on my Island till next Saturday. WOO HOO my first real live FTE'er. I may need a translator though.
Seldom ever seen a Moose on this rock. Lots of bear and the deer are like fly's on a gut pile. It's common to see 100 on a trip to the store and back. Yes we eat a lot of venison. We can take 12 a season in my house. From mid July till the end of the year.
Well Jeff and I spent the day together with my kids. He just kept saying he didn't have any kids and never wanted any. After today I aint sure I do either. Just kidding but they where pretty hard on us.
That is sure a great job he did on his 53 F1. The guy is a master builder.
He just headed back to his camp. A little over an hour away on some pretty ruff dirt roads. Hope he makes it okay. I tried everything to get him to stay but he said that was his home and he was not gonna stay anywhere else. Tough old bird he is.
We will hook up in the morn and do some fishing till the tide change than look over some more country. I hope this weather gives us a break. Lots of rain and wind all week. Should blow it's self out soon.
Jeff has no phone or internet at his camp. I will try and move him tomorrow to a better camp site. One that if the sun comes out than so do the girls at a place called sandy beach. If the weather is good it is a fun place to be.
Numberdummy Bill will be docking in Ketchikan tomorrow. I sure would like to get a chance to meet him and Sylvia. Hope to chat with him on the phone while he is here at least.
Just saw one of those big boys on the way out from Rich's place.
Jeff damn near ran down a black bear Saturday night.
I picked him up this morning and we tried to go over the mountain on the coast road.
About half way in and out in the middle of no where we hit a three foot snow drift. So I guess that road aint open yet. We still seen a lot of country and had a good time.
Tomorrow we will head up on the north end and see what we can see.
The Bronk, and my dog are holding up good. But Jeff and I think the racing seats I got have just got to go. We can hardly walk. only after a couple hundred miles. I'll get a set of stock ones redone with extra padding and change them out soon.

Ah yess... I put a set of those in my MustangII fastback when i was 19 or 20 (skinny). Not that I'm a fat *ss I wish i could go back 13 years and punch myself in the face for wasting the money. I hate them now!! I picked up some Pinto Hi-back buckets that I'll re upholster to replace those *ss burners with..
So how is it going up in the north country Jeff? Any more run ins with the local wildlife?
Be safe my friend.
brian...
All is well! Have been running around prince of wales island with arctic y block for a week, super nice guy today I'm on the ferry headed back to ketchikan, will catch the ferry to Petersburg tomorrow. I'll hang around there a week and then head up into the interior.
So far the only issue has been the leaking trans, and I'm glad to say that it is doing good.... thanks Dan
I'm loving this area, beautiful sights in every direction and plenty of cheap camping
