I now have 55 test miles on it. Of course it drives like a brand new 11-14 EcoBoost truck only a bunch lighter.
The next HUGE job was getting the box mounted. I had to shorten the box 2" on front side. I had thought of shortening the rear 9" also but in the end decided to leave it alone.
Its now 8' 1" inside of box.
I started off getting frame/truck perfectly level. Then test fit the new box floor.
By turning it end for end and then taking 1 3/4" from front and 3/4" from rear it fit the short bed frame perfectly along with the 8' box.

I then had to fab up new mounts to make it work.
Using a self leveling laser I was able to determine about where it would sit front to back and height.
Making the forward most mounts.

Using stock '11-'14 hardware.

Then trial fitting the box after completely removing wheel tubs and floor.

Next up was getting box aligned. To tighten up the gap to cab a bit I went with .500 "

The laser really helped. I just dropped tape measures in all 4 corners to get it in proper spot.

Even the mirror was spot on in middle. LOL
Its a 2008 Super Duty piece. I just had to change the bolt hole width 2".

Raising floor exactly 6.00" for proper location.

Laser used for entire process.

I used 1" square tubing for a couple reasons. One it helped get side panels perfectly straight. Another is I plan on adding tool boxes to both sides in the rear.
A very overwhelming job doing this. Seems like it will never end but keep plugging away. Hoping to have it done by late October.

One can see how close I was able to get the floor height with help of the laser.
+/- 1/6"
I am sure it may move some after all welding is complete.

Making of mount for cross member 5

Another good sized job was trying to fit the pretty much straight capless fuel filler and door into the curved '66 bedside.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

I then found something close to proper size and traced it out on a sticky backed sanding disc. Traced it out and used the sticky part to hold it in place while I traced it.

CUt off wheel used to make hole on inside of box

I then used a nibbler to cut very close to line.

I then trimmed the insert to fit. I removed this from the '11.

Then fit it into place.

Used the MIG to tack in place then a bit of touch up with the grinder.

Used a machinists straightedge to see how it fit.

Capless filler neck is HUGE.

Combo of TIG & MIG and a bit of touch up . .

It will need some final touchup with a grinder but ok for now until I get the rest to fit.
The filler insert needs to turn and it will not quite do that now . . More fabbin' needed.

Trailer Sway Control, Anti Skid, Anti Roll, Sync etc
Only thing not working at this time is the Restraint system. Think I know how to make it work also. Just have not gotten that far yet.
I ended up cutting a few bumpers apart to make a large opening for the Intercooler.
Also for mounting the OEM '11 Fog Lamps.

Note its also narrowed 3+"

Again using the handy Laser to get the Fog LIghts in proper location with outer edge at center of headlamp.

Hand fabbed canisters to hold them yet to make them adjustable.

Getting there!
