Glad to have you back Jeff! You can do this. Just a little bit at a time.
October is Truckstock, you can use that as a goal to have your truck ready to make that trip.
Jeff I was actually thinking about you last week and was thinking of sending you a message to see how things were going. Glad you dropped in let us know. We have had a few members pass in the last couple of years and I am always wondering what has happened to long time members who haven't posted in a long time. Glad you're doing well and when your wife tells you to get rid of your truck:
I know all about long lingering projects, I've had a '37 for almost 15 years and it's sitting in my shop half apart, or as I like to say, "half together"
Interesting . Other than some ( 30-40 hours ) intermittent undocumented work on getting power windows , locks and glass to work on slightly chopped doors I have been fairly quiet also but for some reason it's on my mind at the moment . Congrats and nice to hear your not lost . LOL
I need to see who's on here that is new to me. Thanks for replying Bob and EBEAR!
Today I set an old dead top post battery in the battery tray and started to run #2 cables from the battery to the pmgr starter and the alternator. I am waiting for a few items. I'm going to have 3 terminal blocks to start.
1 for switched ignition-relay controlled. 1 for hot all the time.(subject to change) 1 for ground. I have a 150 amp circuit breaker that will be inline for the positive cable, instead of a megafuse.
Bob, I know you are an electrical guy, so any feedback is welcome! As well as anyone else. I have a good knowledge of the electrical, but speak up if I am missing something. PLEASE!
I just finished the power steering. Using the factory Ford Explorer 5.0 power steering pump to the Jag series 3 rack n pinion. I made my own AN power steering high pressure line. It's my first time with AN fittings. Once I figured out the correct fittings/hose. It was fairly easy.
Then I went through the brakes. All new calipers front and back. New Master Cylinder. All new lines and hoses. Adjustable proportioning valve. So it will stop now.
Found a machine shop that builds driveshafts. Waiting on that to be finished. Then she ought to move under It's own power. At least in and out of the garage.
Jeff
Great job !!! I
I'm glad that you are taking your time. We both started this journey a long time ago and life has gotten in the way for sure.
Keep plugging away.
That noise is definitely a rotational sound. Maybe P/S pump or alternator. Use a stethoscope to listen to each one at a time. Ford P/S pumps have a tendency to be noisy. Possibly air in the line or pump.
Glad you are still in it. Can't wait to see it done.
Congratulations Jeff! You've been working on your truck for longer than I've been around. It's good to see you reach this important milestone. All your old followers here are pulling for you to push on to completion of your long running project.
Glad to see you back on here Jeff. Keep plugging away.
When you move it under it's own power be sure to make a video and share it with us. Even if it is just backing out and pulling back into the garage.
I haven’t been on here in a long time, but I’m subscribed to this thread, so when you posted, it hit my inbox! I’ve had the same challenges as you have, but decided late last year it was time to put up or shut up. I’ve made a lot of progress until I injured my back in November. I’m now a month out of surgery and back at it.
I’m not as far as you are, but close! Your post came at the perfect time as if it were God sending me a message to keep going. what an inspiration! I hope you keep hammering away at it and get it on the road soon!
My trucks 75th birthday is July 7th, and I was hoping to have it on the road by then, but my back derailed that! Doing body and paint right now!
Just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration and tell you good job!
