Michael, It could have gone worse, but thankfully everything worked out.
For those that aren't on Facebook (cough cough Troy and Jay cough cough) Saturday night I noticed one of my leaf springs was cracked on my drivers side. I had that happen once last spring/summer too, except this one was sticking out from the rest of the springs. No one was open at this time and I couldn't wait around so I weighed my options. My main worry was that the cracked piece could jut out enough to make contact with my tire and wreck a pretty much new tire. I thought about just pulling the piece out and having that spring-less void there but I kinda figured it'd do more harm or put more wear on the rest of the springs. I decided to keep the spring piece in the spring pack and wrapped two hose clamps around the springs. I told my dad my plan and he looked a bit worried. He didn't think it would hold but he let me do it anyways. I figured If the clamps were snug, but not really tight I'd be alright as that would allow the springs to flex and do what they were supposed to do. Well, 280 miles later, the clamps held and I made it to Ely. Chalk that up as another use for a hose clamp.
Now I'm trying to decide whether I just buy a new set of springs or if I buy a pulled/used set. Any thoughts, or is it a horse a piece?

Sorry I am not on FB Jake but wouldn't you come to FTE a place that is setup to talk about Ford trucks! I just happen to know a few people on FTE that would be glad to help you replace them if you want! I would just look for a used set myself Jake. Let me know if you want a used set as I couldn't do some checking here in town for you.

Haha, no worries Troy! I do most of the Ford talking and listening here anyways. I have very few friends who appreciate Fords anyways.... Some people.
I don't know if I should risk a trip home and fix them down there, but I do know I could find a set at the salvage yard across the road from me. I was on CL trying to find someone locally up here who is scrapping an old Ford, but no such luck.
Thanks guys, I kinda figured I'd go the used route..

Well if you have the means and the parts there in town you might as well fix it there to be safe.

No rivers here for me to go on but I am sure the lakes won't be too far from opening up. Have fun at work!
I would guess it's a bit high. It's another supply vs. demand things. Supply is limited, but demand is prob. almost non-existant for something like that. Sure .. there will be some that are partial to that brand/car, but not like say a Mustang.
