are yours required to be bolted on like Jim? we hollowed out the base, and put the weight in there. Then, went to the grocery store and left it .05lbs over weight. Brought a drill with, and set it to the scale at meet. lower center weight+better aero=faster car... just sayin
wow, interesting marathon Jim.
Nice! hopefully she was cute...
I like mine. I stacked them to create extra room.
yeah, I need more... hmmm... Caribou run, me thinkin...
The weights or other "add ons" need to be securely attached. As long as the car has the minimum clearance and within height, length and width your pretty open to what you want to do. Tom had an interesting concept of splitting the car down the middle and putting it back together

If I knew right where mine was, I'd take a pic to show you. we basically used a chizel to hollow out the bottom, and melted the weights and poured them into the voided area. we also had fancy axels and wheels which were ordered from some site...

mine was shaped like this.
Couple years ago I drilled into it and used lead fishing line weights. But I am pretty sure our rules said we had to use the wheels and axles supplied with the kit. But we can modify them buy polishing and grooving. Couple years ago we bought a couple books on speed tricks and design. I believe it is best to keep most if the weight in the rear.

When I was doing it, they changed the rules between 4th and 5th grade due to the parents buying all the speed parts...
TSI quoted me 1,400-1,500 if I bring them the transmission.
After talking with Dave I am going to take that pig over to New Brighton Ford for the low power issue and mention to them that I started having issues with the transmission at the same time. He thinks that it may have torn up the transmission being so low on power. Sans that I figure I am looking at between 1,500 and 2,000. This sucks.
