Ger, this past memorial day, I literally laid on the couch all day watching the "WW2 in HD" series. Just completely fascinated me, my heart ached ALL day.
Yeah it was tough Gerry. He never even met two of my kids and never met any of my youngest sister's kids. He is truly missed.
On another note, my father-in-law is a fantastic guy and has been more of a dad to me than an in-law. He's 83 now and I worry about him. He's generally in great health but he's had four mini strokes and he doesn't realize he's no spring chicken anymore.
On another note, I meant to take a pic and post last night but we were exhausted. Snapped this a few minutes ago. We hit a lot of stop and go traffic around the coast Friday and yesterday so my mileage dropped a little. Still not bad overall though.
I reset the Trip A screen when I filled up before we left VA the other day and left it alone for the entire trip.
@John - I love those "...so how do you like your truck" conversations. The fort was way cool!
@Joel - I DVR'd all of the Memorial Day Races and just watched the Coke 600 last night. That was the best pre-race ceremony I have ever seen.
@Gerry - "My heart aches when I think of my Dad & all the Vets" A-men brother, I lost my dad in '87.
My son and I did the annual pre 4th fireworks run to Covington, Indiana yesterday. It's always a fun trip...utill the wife finds out how much we spent.
My dad passed away three years ago on Father's Day, June 26, 2009.
He was 83. Miss you Dad. Mom says hi with her broken arm.
After spending a week in the deserts in southern WY and around Moab, we're heading to the mtns next weekend for some cooler temps and relaxing.
I just became a new grandpa on June 5 for the sixth time. Holy Crap, I must be getting old! My son had a son. Two girls and a boy for both daughter and son.
Gigger, my mother is July 2 and my daughter-in-law is July 3. You're in good company.
Ron, sorry to hear about your Dad, time goes on huh....
Congrats on being a Grampa......
I know so many ppl with Bdays right around mine, life is good, take care Ger
Howdy my friends I trust everyone enjoyed a Good Day
Be the best Dad to your kids that you can. There have been many many times I have looked back at events in our lives that have brought joy and a sense of accomplishment that just can not be matched. It's all about doing what's right because we do what's right ............ Now at 61 yrs I am doing it again with a 5 yr old Granddaughter that I have permanent guardianship. Today there just were times that this little one was just a joy to be around and that feel good feeling deep inside that comes from see her getting past the horror of her past ...... I feel at peace with the world
Thanks Guys ..... and a special Thanks to my Dad.... 1920 - 2004.... 31 year USN Veteran !!
My wife and I have 10 children and we became grandparents for the first time 3 weeks ago. I agree with you Roy, our most cherished memorys involve our kids. They are truly a gift from God.
Had a great Father's Day with my familiy in Iowa but I had to drive back to El Paso yesterday and return to work at Fort Bliss today. I sure miss my family when we are apart.

Have a great week and be safe in your travels.
Best Wishes,

Thanks for your service to this Great Country
I found going to sea was good stuff....being away from the family was not good stuff. After 21 yrs it was time to say good-by and be home more.
