Well........it happened.

Thanks guys. And thanks for keeping this thread going! It's been crazy at work....I mean really crazy!! Lots of stuff going on and not enough time to do it. Been in the dog house for having to work so much but it pays the bills and feeds all of us and the truck.

Vacation now though and we're heading out to North Carolina for a few days tomorrow. Spent about five hours cleaning the truck today but didn't get to snap any pics....will throw a few in here this week. Wife's got a conference in Raleigh NC this week and then we're heading out to the coast around Emerald Isle, Outer Banks, Kill Devil Hills, and a few other places. Gonna be a great week!
I'll have time to get online this week during the day so I'll be posting up in here.
Great pics Darren! That water is eerily calm....like something you'd expect Jason Voorhees to jump out of....LOL.
The trip was a blast but it was nice to be back home and sleep in my own bed with my own wife.

Gavin

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

I returned from Moab late Monday night. Parked the truck and 5er in the driveway and went to bed. Got up Tuesday when I dang well pleased and started unpacking the truck and 5er. I always carry two 5 gallon jugs of diesel when I travel long range and wanted to empty them into my truck since I didn't need them while traveling. I also had several jugs of gas for the 5er generator and the 4-wheelers, and a jug of DEF I bought in Rock Springs because I figured I would add it some where along the way. Well, I opened the fuel door, grand daughter called on the cell phone. Hi Papa, glad you're home. Did you have fun, I missed you guys, can I come over to see you and grandma? Took the FUEL cap off to put the DEF in and... pert near poured the DEF in the fuel hole! GAWD that was close.
That would have been a tough one to live down since while we were on vacation last week, my wife offered to help me fuel up. Since I had to get the gas cans refilled too, I took her up on the offer. As I hoisted my fat A@@ into the bed of the truck, I watched her like a hawk while she got the GREEN nozzle and commenced to fill er up. WHEW.
We talked a little bit about the importance of never putting that nasty old Premium she puts in her Caddy, into my truck. She reassured me she would never put gas in my truck.
I think the point was reenforced after she finished fueling up the truck and looked at me with disdain and utter contempt as she told me she would be in the bathroom washing all that stinky old diesel off her hands.
It appears the handle had a slight leak.
Happy ending. All the fluids wound up where they should.
Moral of the story: Don't get distracted when adding fluids to these beasts. It can happen to any of us at any time. I wish the fuel cap and the DEF cap could be locked independently.
During our trip from IL to UT, the morning we left the Wakeeney, KS KOA,(half way to UT) I got up, made coffee, put it into a travel mug, got in the truck and took off. When we made our first stop after traveling ~2 hours. I started the generator so I could nuke the coffee. My wife asks me to check one of the windows on the fiver that sometimes opens itself up if we have strong crosswinds. No problem, I checked the window, shut off the generator, got in the truck, headed down the road. An hour and a half later we stop for fuel...do you have any idea how much of a mess half a cup of coffee can make while bouncing around inside of a microwave for 150 miles?

When we got to Moab I spent an hour removing the microwave and the fume hood for the stove, cleaned them, the walls and the stove top. I was lucky, the stove top caught most of it.

How was Moab?
I got gas today because its going up about .35 a gallon, so I fill my Explorer, I come back home & get the Mustang & a 6 gallon Gerry can, fill up both & leave the station......its such a nice day I decide to go for a ride, of course the gas spills in the trunk & causes a big stink, I hope I washed the gas smell out or I'm buying a new trunk mat.....

Thats the short story
Vacations over, back to work.

..... You were quite clear
....... I just am surprised that you get away with it
Speed limits varied between 55 and 70. I kept the cruise set at the speed limit on all of the roads so I stayed under 70 for the entire trip.
The weather has been great so far and Friday we're heading for the beach before heading back home.

It's good to hear you're getting to relax a little. Hope you have a great weekend!

I do a damn good job on my own...TYVM!
Ya they should have it under the hood....it's not used that much. Or a separate compartment behind the fuel door.
