I went back and I've tried to rep everyone who's posted in here to say thanks.
Uneventful day here today and didn't even get a chance to drive the truck. Long day at work and too beat to go for a ride.....guess I'll have to drive it twice as far tomorrow.
Well, my friend, did you read about my recent trip...... a page back...... I did some driving fro ya .
Gerry, Not very far. Willow Creek Res is about 80 miles from here. 15 of them dirt & gravel.
Enough hills and distance to see that the truck is rock solid and doesn't care about the weight.
John, my Daughter and crew flew out to MT from VA Beach. If I had driven out that way, I would have found you!!...... I used to live in Blacksburg VA. Virginia Tech Student 1968 - 1970. Then remained there another year busy flight instructing until the draft caught up with me.
Wow....I'm in Blacksburg pretty much on a weekly basis. I live about 45 miles south of it. We go to Christiansburg all of the time. Small world, huh?
Unfortunately though, between work and obligations at home, I missed the chance to meet up with another of my FTE friends recently. He and his family were on vacation from Massachusetts and came through here but I couldn't break free from some prior commitments.
Nice campground sites look very private. Is there a food box for each site or are they shared?
There is a food box for each tent site. There are no food boxes for the trailer sites. HOWEVER, there is no one at this camp ground over the last couple of years so if you wanted one you could have one. Last year it was very private with out colsest neighbour at least 2 - 3 sites away, and they are fairly well spaced to begin with. We went 3 times last year and at least 2 out of the 5 loops were closed completely and the other 3 maybe 20% full. When I phone to make a reservation this year they told me they don't even do that anymore, all first come first serve. BUT, then I look at a "campground" 30 min outside Edmonton on the bals azz prairie where the biggest of all 7 trees in 5' tall, and it is FULL. I have no clue, I guess camping is just not camping without power, water and sewer (no services at Pocahontas). I have always camped in a tent (or the back of my truck) so having a trailer at all is a luxury to me. Maybe it's the bears, we usually see a bear or 2, not in the campground but nearby. Or possibly the cougars?? One snatched a dog from a campsite last year when we were there (gotta keep a pretty close eye on the kids).
Like I said, no clue, it is in a national park, it is un toched nature for the most part, it is very beautiful, well maintained, great large camp spots, 15 min drive to natural hot springs (wifey loves), 3.5 hour drive from Edmonton, I don't kow why no one goes there????
You just answered yer own question Darren, they dont go there because there isn't any power, most women need to curl their hair in the morning................I have a Honda gennies I bring when I go to Provincial parks........

LOL, thanks!, I guess what I have been doing my whole life is not camping. BUT glad I finally got it figured out!!!!!, we have a Yam EF3000ise and a hair dryer too, for shame. OH WELL!
I got a Yeti cooler, certified bear proof. I tell all my friends down south here, they laugh at me. But it's a great product. Last ice chest I'll ever buy!
It's unfortunate that RV folks get too soft. I love mine, will never tent camp again, but going to a place with no power/sewer would not phase me at all! Generator will get used though. Gotta at least keep the 12v stuff working!

I have 2 - Trojan T145 6V batts and a 1500W inverter. We can go for days with 12V and 120V. Even make coffee in the AM with an electric pot! Wifey dries hair, kids can watch TV etc. Works very well, we hardly need to start the generator unless we are 3+ days (or need air conditioning).
Happy camping!!
Not sure if I will ever camp in a tent again either, BUT when they invented the sprotz truck tent (early 90's??) I thought I was in heaven!! I wore out a couple of those tents. They were GREAT!!!
