OK, here is a shot of the Clampett camping rig. I HATE the way the leveled truck squats with the trailer on. Looks goofy as heck IMHO. But it still tuggs like a beast. 80 MPH up 9% grades at 38 PSI boost ALL DAY LONG last summer. The Canadian Rockies prob still smell like burnt diesel! There were some threads on towing with a lifted truck that I can't find now so I put this here, just wanted to let everyone know "you can do it".
The angle of the trailer is a bit exaggerated in the pic cuz the ground is not level but you get the idea.
They hear us comming and get the hell out of the way anyhoo.
Darren, when I worked for the RV dealer here we would flip the trailer axles under the leaf springs, dont turn the axle upside down tho because they are arched, weld 4 new spring perches on the axle & raise the trailer .......you can get the perches at any spring shop....

Now you're getting up to where we spent a week last year. I can't wait to head back to Utah. I love it down there. First we are going to Rock Springs, WY. The Kilpecker Sand Dunes are 11 miles north of there. They are the largest active sand dunes in North America. Plus I got a grand daughter that lives there. Then off to the White Wash Sand Dunes in central Utah.
I spent all weekend getting the 4-wheelers and 5er ready to pull out next Saturday. Providing my Daughter-in-law doesn't go in labor that is. She's due June 14. But I bet she comes a little earlier than that. We'll see.
Ride on!
We rode Hell's Revenge yesterday, it's was unbelievable. We are riding Fins and Things today. More pics to come.
Wow Darren !
and I was worried about a little off level on my 5th wheel
seems like those rear 5th wheel tires would be smokin and screamin !!!
The good thing is though, that the rake of the front end allows for better airflow over the 5th - yeah - that's why you did it like that - yeah
I actually did it cuz the black / grey tanks drain fater, I barely have to slow down.
You should not worry about anything, life is too short. Hook er up and see how she goes is what I do.
I know, I know it looks terrible but it tows just fine. Like I said, they can hear us coming and they get out of the way. Wonder how many people have said "what the heck just passed me??"
Darren,
You need air cylinders instead of springs under the camper. Then you could raise or lower the camper to any height you want to, plus you could then make it bounce up and down and shake the ____ out of the black water tank.
