Howdy Bill........
Long time no see..... are ya enjoying the 130 degree heat
Hey Fred!
Yea several heat warnings already and it's only June
But it really cooled down...only 100 now.
That's OK taking the truck (and I guess since I have to...the wife, and don't worry I won't count anything on the way ) up to the mountains this holiday weekend to enjoy a break from the blistering heat.
Still trying to get a trip somewhere I can tow something....only the airbags and compressor left to do and then I will be good to go...man I can't wait. Did I say I really really want to tow something yet!
Wait until November or December or January or February and maybe even March then I will get you back buddy
I'll keep looking. Re: service, prior Navy, now contractor, soon to be entrepreneur/business owner.
As promised, here are a couple pics. The virgin being loaded for the first time! We are both virgins at this time, as this is my first GN and LARGE (48') tow. Curiosity got the best of me, and I ran up to the dump (5 mi. round trip) to get an "unofficial" weight.
DRUM ROLL PLEASE
21,700 lbs.
did u get individual axle weights/ front/rear/trailer?
I am interested in hauling same with 2 vehicles in the trailer..
interested in the hitch weight.
truck is 9,000, so trailer is 12,700.
gooseneck typical is 15-20% of weight.. so 1800-2500lbs..
and I have a second question... its really a paperwork thing..
if the trailer is 3-7k axles, it has a GCWR of 21000lbs.. and that will be just under the technical weight value for the dually. but the combo will be over 26k- 13+21=34k, altho the actual weight will be under at 22k. but the truck is rated for 30k total max RATING (not actual).
do you have a commercial drivers license?
so, for my case, I was looking at a dual 7K axle trailer, which would put me at 14+10k = 24k, and the truck is rated at 23,500.
Sam, I have the same problem. We have a tri axle cargo trailer that has 7k axles, which means its rated at 21k, and like you say, places your rating above 26,001, which can make the dot unhappy if they choose to get involved. I don't have a cdl, I should get one, but then it opens up that whole new world of log books, taxes (I think fuel tax would apply to me being an interstate traveler). I really don't wanna go there.
And I have some cool info, second time I have driven my truck a good distance without a trailer. I drove 425 miles today and averaged 18.4 mpg. It was right at 20 for a long time until I got a regen cycle. Hate when that messes up the mpg!
I am going to upset y'all with the whole H&S thing. I'm not gonna do it because I'm only going to keep this truck another 2 years. I really should be driving an F350 SRW, I should order one and break it in, then the tuner will be a consideration as I would be interested in keeping that truck long term.
WOW Jetpilot....
and I thought I had to be **** about reminding myself to "swing out" stay on outside of curves, so I wouldn't have the 5th hopping curbs or taking down signs

I plan on getting individual weights when the time comes, but I did not get individual weights as I was only interested in seeing what this thing weighed as is. Plus the dump scale is not "certified", so not sure exactly how accurate it is or even if it is close. They probably read high so they can charge more to dump!
As far as your calculations, you are close. The trailer has 3/6000 lb. axles making it 18,000 GVWR. Which will put it right on the edge of "capacity". No I do not have a CDL, and don't plan on getting it for the reasons stated below.
Gigger hit the nail on the head, 18' LQ and 30' garage; and yes Roy, the "business" which has nothing to do with hauling. It will be a "mobile" retail shop.

you are going to have to make the block
Tell me about it!!!!
This was my first MAJOR tow and I was watching the curbs, signs, parked cars etc., and swinging WIDE

I think I have the picture............ The rear "retail" section is the Bar and strip club. The forward section is ..... well.... The Red Light district Kinda like a Book Mobile
