Yep you would know exactly how it goes then LOL.
I too had an extra trip to turn the power on (lift is not powered but needed to blow up the tubes to float the lift out there!)
Yes your father had a really sweet boat!
That must have been a blast!
Not sure I could haul enough gas down there to run that big boat!
Man I need a shore lift fairy!!
It's our first summer out there so I was a bit eager to get at it. Think I will wait for help next year. Plus I got in major chit from all the guys out there. I guess they don't like their wives saying "How come Darren can put in his dock, pier and lift all by himself in one day and it takes 4 guys, 2 days (and about 100 beer) to get ours in??" Even when I think I am doing good I am in trouble
The boat launch is way on the other side of the lake so most guys try to launch on the shore about 2 miles down from where we are at. Buddy told me I will get stuck, never be able to launch there. I said, have you not seen my truck??? I go down there, 1 guy is stuck. Pull him out. Put her in 4 low, lock the diff and back into about 3' of water and mud... Didn't even spin, no issue whatsoever! The bright white ford is a beast. So guess what I did yesterday?? Launched about 20 boats LOL. People bow when they walk by the truck now. It's almost legendary already. Should have lost of help next year, You want your boat in the water, gonna need a hand first
That boat was sweet, but back when marine fuel was 1/2 the price it was still expensive. It was nothing to burn up $250 to $350 in fuel a weekend. The boat would haul the mail though. My mom wanted to give it to me, but back then I couldn't afford the fuel or the insurance. He had a sign above the cabin entrance that said "This boat runs on gas, not thanks". It was hilarious.
You will enjoy the boat and the summer! Sounds like the trips to the dock are as enjoyable as the trips on the water! I think the concept of helping them get the boat in the water is a fair trade for getting your lift and pier going. Perhaps they can come down and give the beast a bath too! Enjoy the kids...people used to tell me that and I'd blow it off. Mine are 14, 11 and 10 now and the time sure has flown by!

"This boat runs on gas, not thanks" That is absolutely awesome!
Thanks Savage, my kids are only 2.5 and 4.5 and it is amazing how fast it is going by. That is the main reason we got the place WAY before we could afford it. Great family time out there. Hope they are smart and get good jobs to help with the financing LOL.
I try to not work (and stress about work) while I am out there and just enjoy the family. A great thing happened this weekend, I dropped my phone in the lake friday night. No interuptions all weekend! Think I may make that the first thing I do every time we get out there!
Darren ....... nice story...... before I forget: I do not know for sure, but going that deep ........ can water get into differentials, transfer cases, or any other places ??
I'll have to tell ya about a summer place in Vermont.
I'm at the hospital right now. Gina is undergoing a couple of tests.
I would say the Docs are trying to determine if she has a brain.
, but I might get in a little bit of trouble .....

Howdy Roy,
Not sure about the water.... I know my transfer case output shaft leaks like crazy so....probably! It's a truck and I use it as such.
You better hope Gina doesn't do any snooping on FTE.........but what do I know, I am always in trouble. Wish her well for us, hope all is OK.
Roy, the diff vents, Tcase vent & tranny vents are routed up high so they dont take in water, some vents have a little plastic valve that floats & seals out the water kinda like the snorkles we had when we were kids, Gig

What is happens on FTE stays on FTE right Roy, lol...
So interesting night...I coach a U14 girls travel soccer team and my boys play on the same travel soccer team for U11. We are on the soccer fields 6 nights a week. While at the soccer fields tonight, a guy comes up to me out of the blue and says he loves my truck. Naturally, I'm assuming he is talking about my '11 PSD, but no, he points to the parking lot to my former '07 Chevy. It was a over a month since I had seen the truck. It looked really nice! He is obviously very proud of it. He said he bought it the first day he saw it on the lot and he said he knew that I had taken good care of it. I thought that was an odd comment because I didn't know this guy at all.
We chatted for a long time. I had some time to kill...my daughter was reffing a game. This guy knew me from coaching and apparently I have coached his son a couple of years back. I remember the kids usually, but not always the parents. Once he told me who his son was, I remembered his son, but I honestly couldn't remember the Dad. He must of asked me a million questions about the truck. He was a sponge. Anyway, my daughter's game ended and she walks over and it's time to go. She grabs the keys to my truck and is going to wait in the truck and they guy's jaw drops. He blurts out, "That's you?" He pulls out his card and INSISTS I put it in my wallet at that very moment. When you are ready to get another truck, CALL ME. He said he would buy the truck. My daughter didn't seem too excited about me selling it ever, but it was really nice.
